The edge portions in the absorbent structure's middle portion have a first mean pore size, and the central portion in the middle portion of the absorbent structure has a second mean pore size, the first mean pore size being greater than the second mean pore size. The absorbent article can be folded along the longitudinal centre axis so that a part of the article on one side of the longitudinal centre line and a corresponding part of the article on the other side of the longitudinal centre line are brought together to lie against one another at a plane of the longitudinal centre line on the upper surface of the article. The edge portions which have the greater, first mean pore size thereby form an area of the absorbent article that is first wetted during use.

Abstract: An absorbent article of pants shape includes an elastic waist portion, an absorbent element (5), and a liquid-impermeable outer layer (3). The elastic waist portion is made from an elastic first piece (1) which is rectangular and is intended to form the rear portion (8) and side portions (9, 10) of the article. A second piece (2) forms the front portion (11) and crotch portion (12) of the pants-like article. The second piece (2) is elongate, and the width thereof is, at least in the crotch portion (12), smaller than the length of the first piece (1). The absorbent element (5) is in its entirety arranged on the second piece (2).

Abstract: An absorbent body in an absorbent article, such as a sanitary napkin, panty protector, incontinence guard, diaper or the like. The absorbent body includes a first layer, an admission layer (4), which comprises a mixture of 80-95% resilient fibres and 5-20% heat-actuable binding fibres, preferably bicomponent fibres, and a second layer, a storage and dispersion layer (5), which comprises a mixture of 45-90% absorbent fibres and 5-15% heat-actuable binding fibres, wherein the binding fibres are heat treated so as to bond together and to hold the fibre structures together in the first and second layers (4, 5), such that these layers will form a laminate that has a tensile strength of at least 2N/50 mm in a dry state. The absorbent body also has a high surface dryness and low rewetting tendency and exhibits good absorption properties.
