  • Publication number: 20110305555
Abstract: This invention employs the isentropic acceleration of a basic air flow, supplied by the wind, through a converging/diverging De Laval Nozzle, to thereby enormously increase the air flow speed and power at the nozzle throat section and to simultaneously lower the pressure there to approximately one-half of ambient pressure. This low throat pressure is then used as a ‘vacuum’ source to activate a high speed isentropic flow of air through a power take-off means consisting of a flow rotor which converts the energy of the accelerating linear air flow through it into rotational energy suitable for take-off to do useful external work at very low cost. The invention can also be mounted on a moving vehicle so that the relative air flow past the vehicle supplies the air flow to produce the high power output at very low cost.

  • Publication number: 20110176908
Abstract: This invention relates to a clean, efficient, substantially isentropic method and apparatus for transforming the internal energy of a mass flow of a fluid, such as air, into increased flow kinetic energy and then efficiently transferring this additional kinetic energy to a power take-off means for doing useful work. The acceleration of the air flow is accomplished by passing the air flow through a set of converging nozzles which generate thrust; the nozzle thrust is then transformed into torque which turns a rotor which is coupled to a power take-off means. The method and apparatus can be made to be self-sustaining.

  • Patent number: 4103168
Abstract: Electron microscope apparatus for electron beam microfabrication. A mounting is described for supporting at least the final lens assembly of an electron microscope column above the vacuum chamber which also provides a rigid mounting for a stage on which a substrate is located together with reflecting mirrors which co-operate with a laser interferometer system for measuring the distances moved by the stage and therefore the substrate in two orthogonal directions. To avoid unwanted movement between the mirrors and the interferometer heads, the latter are also carried by rigid support means on the underside of the mounting. The mounting may comprise a solid ring located in an aperture in the lid of the vacuum chamber.Alternatively, the mounting may comprise a rigid and reinforced plate forming the lid of the chamber, from the underside of which extend the rigid support means for the stage and interferometer heads.
