  • Patent number: 6808351
Abstract: A method of manufacturing opening tabs for containers comprises providing sheet material, from which tabs are to be formed, with locating apertures. The sheet material is located within a printing machine and printed information is applied to the sheet material at predetermined locations. The pre-printed sheet material is then located on a forming machine and opening tabs are formed in the location of the pre-printed information and applied to can opening ends.

  • Patent number: 5875072
Abstract: A head suspension assembly for use in a disk drive having a load and unload ramp, the head suspension assembly including a load beam, a cover having a load and unload tang, a coating sandwiched between the cover and the load beam, and a head lead wire extending through the coating. In a preferred embodiment, the coating is a visco-elastic thermoplastic adhesive and the cover is a constraining material; whereby the cover is adhered to the load beam and undesired vibrations of the head suspension assembly are dampened. In a method of fabricating the head suspension assembly, the cover is placed over the load beam after the coating is applied and after the head lead wire is strung over the load beam, and then the cover is adhered to the load beam by heating the coating, preferably by placing a heated platen over the cover.

  • Patent number: 5197667
Abstract: A field installable device for a conventional heating and air conditioning system (HVAC) is provided which operates a blower fan in conjunction with a standard thermostat. Presently, HVAC systems operate in four modes: heating, cooling, off and fan "on". The device includes a multi-pole, multi-speed motor and a control operatively connected between the thermostat and the motor. With the fan switch in the "on" position and heating or cooling called for, the control causes the blower to operate at a high speed, which may be different for heating or cooling. When the pre-selected temperature is reached the particular thermal operation (i.e., heating or cooling) is stopped. The control switches the motor to a speed substantially slower than the operating condition speed to provide continuing air circulation until the thermostat again calls for thermal operation. With the switch in "auto" position, the blower operates similarly to present systems.

  • Patent number: 4664160
Abstract: A fiber filling system features a picking device for separating clumped fiber, that feeds to an air and fiber circulation chamber. The circulation chamber aerates and fluffs the separated fiber into a fibrous billow, which is then discharged to a stuffing chute. A stuffable article, such as a toy, pillow, or furniture cushion casing is attached to the chute and is filled with the fibrous billow in a metered amount.

  • Patent number: 4073590
Abstract: A device for measuring the total reflectivity, i.e., specular plus scatter, f a small area of a material at various laser frequencies and intensities. The device includes appropriate transmitting and collecting optics in conjunction with a thermopile-type energy sensor with an external metering circuit. The metering circuit can be quickly adjusted to read total reflectivity of a sample placed in front of the reflectivity-measuring device.

  • Patent number: 3942127
Abstract: An optical power amplifier system for extracting high power radiation from a basic active laser media. The system includes a plurality of basically confocal mirrors so positioned that radiation output from a laser is amplified, that no power is absorbed in the supporting structure and it has no feedback from the secondary mirror. In the system, the laser beam passes through the active laser media region at least four times which increases the output power.
