Patent number: 6024406Abstract: A motor vehicle seat has a strength-member for its back that includes an upper portion pivotally mounted on a lower portion and carrying a headrest, the two portions of the strength-member are connected together by a locking device which holds them together and which is dimensioned to give way when the back of a passenger bears against a thrust member of the upper portion of the strength-member in the event of an impact from behind, such that the upper portion of the seat-back strength-member and the upper region of the front face of the seat-back then pivot forwards together with the headrest, with this movement being braked by an energy absorber device.Type: GrantFiled: July 1, 1998Date of Patent: February 15, 2000Assignee: Bertrand Faure Equipements S.A.Inventors: Fabrice Charras, Bernard Courtois, Yacine Ziar

Patent number: 5860703Abstract: The vehicle seat has a seat back that is extended upwards by a headrest. The headrest is supported by at least one rigid stalk that is vertically slidable in a socket secured to the seat back, with a certain amount of clearance for forward pivoting. The stalk is urged angularly rearwards by a spring towards a rest position in which notches formed in the rear face of the stalk co-operate with a stop member secured to the socket. Starting from this rest position, the headrest can be moved angularly forwards by a user into an adjustment position where the stalk is free to slide vertically in the socket.Type: GrantFiled: July 29, 1997Date of Patent: January 19, 1999Assignee: Bertrand Faure Equipements S.A.Inventors: Bernard Courtois, Adolfo Castro

Patent number: 5171062Abstract: A front seat for a motor vehicle is disclosed, characterized in that its sitting portion has a front part (16) and a rear part (15) mounted for sliding horizontally one on the other in the longitudinal direction of the seat and an adjustment mechanism actuatable by a single control member (29) and adapted for modifying both the longitudinal position of the front part, the longitudinal position of the rear part and the level of this rear part, so that any backward movement of the front part corresponds to lengthening of the sitting portion (17) and lowering of its rear part, and conversely. Furthermore, any lengthening of the sitting portion preferably results in raising the top portion (4) of the seat-back and conversely.Type: GrantFiled: November 14, 1990Date of Patent: December 15, 1992Assignee: Bertand Faure AutomobileInventor: Bernard Courtois
-
Patent number: 5156442Abstract: The invention relates to improvements to devices for attaching seat backs on corresponding sitting portions. To assemble a vehicle seat back on a corresponding sitting portion, the seat back comprises two trapezoidal flat cases (1), each containing a bent wire spring (8) whose ends (8.sub.1) are urged towards each other, these ends passing through two horizontal slots formed in the cases. The sitting portion comprises two trapezoidal wedges (2) complementary to the cases. The oblique edges of the wedges are formed with inclined slots (12, 13) through which the ends of the spring also pass.Type: GrantFiled: December 13, 1990Date of Patent: October 20, 1992Assignee: Bertrand Faure AutomobileInventor: Bernard Courtois

Patent number: 4789821Abstract: This device and method for testing a combinative logic circuit (4), includes on the one hand a circuit generating test sequences (30) for applying test logic signals to N inputs of the combinative logic circuit and, on the other hand, an output circuit (5) to analyze the output signals of the combinative logic circuit. These test sequences are successively applied to each of the N inputs (E1, E2, E3 and E4) so that an alternating series, at least twice, of logic "1"'s and of logic "0"'s while a word of N-1 bits is applied to the other inputs to ensure the transmission of the said alternating series to the output of the combinative logic circuit.Type: GrantFiled: January 8, 1987Date of Patent: December 6, 1988Assignee: U.S. Philips CorporationInventors: Daniel Baschiera, Bernard Courtois

Patent number: 4523786Abstract: The invention provides a seat-back hinge for a vehicle seat comprising an inwardly toothed sector integral with the sitting portion flange (1), an inwardly toothed sector integral with the seat-back flange (3), a toothed bolt (5) adapted to coact directly with these two sectors and a rotary cam (6) connected to a control hand-lever (22) and adapted to coact with the bolt. This bolt and this cam are mounted transversely floating and the cam comprises a semi-cylindrical land (11) adapted to coact directly with two complementary lands comprised by the two flanges.Type: GrantFiled: July 7, 1983Date of Patent: June 18, 1985Assignee: Societe Industrielle Bertrand FaureInventors: Alain Letournoux, Bernard Courtois
