Abstract: A portable carrying case for a laptop computer is disclosed which may be readily converted into a rolling case. This conversion is accomplished with minimal additional weight or bulk, by a retractable handle which extends into, and through, the interior of the case, and while not in use, may be disconnected from the case. A narrow elongated roller is mounted along the bottom edge of the laptop carrying case for transporting the case along the ground surface. The narrow elongated roller may also be removed from the case when it is desired to utilize the case in a non-rolling mode of operation.

Abstract: A portable carrying case is provided which can be converted between a manual carrying and rolling modes of operation. During the rolling modes of operation a handle is extended upward from the case, and the case is traversed along the floor surface by a roller means secured to the bottom of the case. A shoulder strap and/or manual graspable handle is provided for manual lifting of the case during its manual carrying mode of operation. A predetermined spacing is provided between the roller means and back wall of the case so that when the case is in its manual mode of operation the roller means, which may have accumulated dirt, will not be against the user's body.

Abstract: An extensible and retractable display device for wheeled luggage comprises a plurality of panels which extend and retract upon extension and retraction, respectively, of the display device. The display device is attached to a telescoping handle for the luggage and retracts and extends along with the retraction and extension, respectively, of the telescoping handle.

Abstract: An inclined handle structure for a wheeled case comprises an inclined handle attached at a fixed angle with respect to a wall of the wheeled case. The inclined handle retracts toward and extends from the wall of the wheeled case while being held in a guide which is fixedly attached to the wheeled case. The wheeled case can be tipped on its wheels and pushed or pulled by means of the inclined handle. Alternatively, if the wheeled case has sufficient wheels the case can be pushed or pulled in an upright position by the inclined handle.

Abstract: A handle structure for wheeled luggage comprises a U-shaped telescoping handle and one or two swing out handles pivotably attached to the U-shaped telescoping handle. The wheeled luggage can be pushed or pulled in a first set of two collinear directions by the U-shaped telescoping handle and can be pushed or pulled in a second set of two collinear directions by the one or two swing out handles. The first set of two collinear directions in which the wheeled luggage can be propelled by the one or two swing out handles are parallel to a first line which is perpendicular to a second line which is parallel to the second set of two collinear directions.

Abstract: A wheeled article of luggage, such as a carry-on case, is provided with an elongate member which is extensible for it to secure an article of auxiliary luggage positioned on a top wall of the wheeled case. The extensible member can be built into the carry-on case, and conveniently stored in an externally accessible pocket.
