  • Patent number: 4456334
Abstract: A process allowing the centering of an optical fiber in an opto-electronic head or the fiber-holder of a head in an adapter between the head and optical cable. To this effect, a certain clearance is left between the cover of the head and the main part of the fiber-holder. Then a tool is used having micrometric screws for producing permanent deformations on the periphery of the cover made from a ductile alloy, while checking the result by "dynamically" effected measurements. In the case of a fiber-holder in an adapter, a certain clearance is left between the end of the fiber-holder on the cable side and the adapter is provided with a skirt made from a ductile alloy which is deformed at certain points in a manner similar to that of the first case.

  • Patent number: 4386821
Abstract: An opto-electronic coupling head which can either be an emission head coupling a light emitting diode to an optical fiber, or a reception head coupling an optical fiber to a photodiode. The head has a diode mounted on the base of a case for a semiconductor device and uses the cap of said case which has previously been stamped and perforated at the top. A fiber holder has a shoulder which abuts against the edges of the opening made in the cap and in conjunction with the electric welding of the cap to the base helps to fix the fiber holder in the case. The optical fiber is previously fixed by a deposit of solder in the axial opening of the fiber holder.

  • Patent number: 4383731
Abstract: An opto-electronic head serving as a connection between a photo-emitter or photo-detector component and a very small diameter optical transmission fibre, designed to facilitate the coupling and adjustment of the respective positions of the optical fibre and the component. To this end, the optical fibre is mounted in a fibre holder incorporating a relatively wide axial passage, except at a constriction point. The passage is flared in frustum-shaped manner on the diode surface side tangential to the fibre bulge maintaining said bulge at an optimum distance from said diode.
