  • Patent number: 10670758
Abstract: A method for spectral analysis of seismic data obtains imaged seismic data and generates orthogonally shifted imaged seismic data gathers. The orthogonally shifted imaged seismic data gathers are processed to generate a spectrally processed imaged seismic data. Alternatively, the imaged seismic data are obtained using a spectral processing filter that is a function of a magnitude of a total wavenumber of the imaged seismic data in three dimensions and a spatially variable velocity function.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: June 1, 2015
Date of Patent: June 2, 2020
    Assignee: CGG SERVICES SAS
Inventors: Adel Khalil, Henning Hoeber, Bernard Deschizeaux
  • Patent number: 10338254
Abstract: Systems and methods are provided for directional de-noising on seismic data recorded byseismic receivers. A method includes: receiving a seismic dataset, wherein the seismic dataset includes a model dataset and an input dataset to filter; decomposing the model dataset into a plurality of model directions, identifying which of the model directions to keep; and mapping the input dataset along the identified model directions resulting in a filtered output.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: January 22, 2014
Date of Patent: July 2, 2019
    Assignee: CGG SERVICES SAS
    Inventors: Bernard Deschizeaux, Charlotte Sanchis

  • Publication number: 20160334528
Abstract: A system and method is disclosed for characterizing a subterranean formation utilizing azimuthal data that includes obtaining seismic data along a plurality of azimuth angles from a receiver and performing a correction to the seismic data to remove an offset effect. The offset effect is based on a distance between the receiver and a seismic source. The method further includes analyzing the corrected seismic data for an anisotropic region indicative of a subterranean fracture.

  • Patent number: 7373251
Abstract: A method is provided for predicting a value of a designated rock or fluid property in a subterranean geologic volume. A first predicted value of the designated rock or fluid property is also assigned to a volume of a multi-dimensional, multi-scale model. A first predicted value of seismic response for the model volume is calculated from a response model using the first predicted value of the designated rock or fluid property, wherein the response model is responsive to changes in predicted values of the designated rock or fluid property. A synthetic trace is generated and iteratively compared to the corresponding trace obtained from one or more sets of actual seismic data to determine a difference while consistency is maintained between the types, scales and dimensions of values and data.
    Type: Grant
