  • Patent number: 4484853
Abstract: A system for carriage of a shelter such as a garage in erected form with a trailer or truck adapted to readily mount and carry such shelter on it such that the truck or trailer may be conveniently used to carry loads on a work site; the shelter forms a garage for the trailer or truck, and the latter is also used to readily move the shelter or garage to another site whenever desired. The trailer includes laterally extending arms to engage under the lateral sills of the shelter and the latter has a front wall with portions folding away for the passage of the arms upon loading and unloading of the shelter on the trailer or truck.

  • Patent number: 4458773
Abstract: An endless track assembly is disclosed to increase the ability of conventional tractors to travel over soft ground. The endless track assembly comprises a supporting frame detachably secured under the front of a conventional tractor body having driving wheels protruding from the sides of the body at the back of the latter, a first pair of endless track-mounting assemblies attached to the rear of such supporting frame, a support member secured to each track-mounting assembly and detachably secured under the rear of the tractor body, a second pair of endless track-mounting assemblies pivotally mounted to the front of the supporting frame and extending forwardly of the tractor body, idler wheels at the back and front and of said first and second pairs of endless track-mounting assemblies, hydraulic cylinder units mounted on the tractor for raising such second pair of endless track-mounting assemblies on the supporting frame and endless tracks trained on and surrounding the driving and idler wheels.

  • Patent number: 4400126
Abstract: A roadable container or bin for storage of bituminous mix, at a road construction site and quickly erectable to an operative position, and which is characterized by a construction to avoid segregation of the particles in the bituminous mix, to avoid the need for a crane for its erection, and which includes a fuel compartment and a conveyor to dispense with the need for separate transportation of the same and producing a compact arrangement. The roadable storage container includes an elongated storage bin embodying a fuel tank, a bituminous mix compartment and a conveyor arranged to load the bituminous mix in that compartment, such as to avoid segregation of the constituents of the mix.

  • Patent number: 4119210
Abstract: A vehicle for easy and convenient transporting and laying of a large diameter pipe or pipe section, in particular in a tunnel. This pipe laying and transporting vehicle comprises an elongated frame defining opposite end portions and a central portion, roadwheels arranged in a single longitudinal row, and each selectively steered and raisable relative to the frame, and connected to one of the end portions, a pair of carrying devices mounted on the central portion and engaging a pipe section to carry it as it is surrounding the central portion, and each carrying device being upwardly and laterally displaceable and including rollers engaging the inner face of the pipe section and driven to selectively rotate the latter about its longitudinal axis and transversely align the same with a precedingly installed pipe section.

  • Patent number: 4039090
Abstract: A muck-evacuating system such as for use in tunneling operation and including in combination a train of wagons running in a tunnel and an elevator of separate receptacles adapted to automatically pick up the muck-filled receptacles one by one off the train of wagons, to raise them through a shaft to automatically trip them over to discharge the muck therefrom into a chute at ground level, and to return the emptied receptacles on the wagons, which are then moved through the tunnel for refilling at the tunnel face.

  • Patent number: 4007693
Abstract: A train system particularly adapted to be used in tunneling operation to outwardly move the loosened earth and rock or muck and, for that purpose, which is trackless and takes its lateral guidance from the usual utility duct which is required along the tunnel. This trackless train system also distinctively includes wagons having each a walking beam suspension which supports the load carrying ground wheels in a longitudinal central row, such that the wagon adequately and undistinctively rides on a tunnel floor which is uneven or which has a transversely concave profile, such as to form an underground conduit.

  • Patent number: 3976146
Abstract: A grader of the type including a longitudinal overlying boom connecting a front wheel assembly to a rear tractor unit with a blade carrier frame assembly positioned intermediate the front wheels assembly and the tractor unit. This grader is characterized by a boom which is longitudinally adjustable, laterally swingable and mounted over the cab to allow selective adjustment between a maximum effective wheelbase and a minimum turning radius to allow a lower cab and overall profile of the grader, and to provide an increased effective field of vision to the operator and to provide roll-over protection for the operator. This grader also distinctively includes a blade, the carrier frame of which is rearwardly connected to the tractor unit rather than forwardly to the boom, such as to be pushed by the tractor unit instead of being drawn by the boom, to thus allow a boom of lighter construction.

  • Patent number: 3957124
Abstract: A truck provided with drill units to drill the end wall of a tunnel under excavation, this truck being characterized by having a support for the drill units, which is pivoted about a transverse axis relative to the vehicle body to provide adjustment of the inclination of the support in relation to the inclination of the end wall to be drilled, to allow adjustment of the overall height of the truck for tunnels of different heights, and to provide a better load distribution to allow faster travel. This support is pivotally connected to provide automatic and constant aiming of the drill units in parallel rearwardly pointing relationship.
