  • Patent number: 7603845
Abstract: The invention concerns a method which consists in arranging a oxygen probe (21) of an exhaust pipe and observing that substantial unique increase of said representative signal towards a threshold value S1 calculated from the start of the bleeding of the nitrogen oxide trap, obtained following a variation subsequent to shift of the engine from lean mixture operating conditions to rich mixture operating conditions, being used as indicator for controlling the end of the bleeding operation. The invention is characterized in that the integration of the signal representing the time between the start of the bleeding and the end of the bleeding, then the comparison of the integration value to a threshold value S2 are used for diagnosing its ageing condition. The invention also concerns a device for implementing said method.

  • Publication number: 20090158708
Abstract: The invention proposes an engine (11) comprising a catalytic converter (12c), a first probe (120) able to deliver a first signal (Vsp) proportional to the oxygen content of an exhaust gas and installed upstream of the converter, a second oxygen probe (130) downstream of the converter and able to provide a second signal (Vsb), and means (13) for making a diagnosis regarding the operating condition of the converter, characterized in that: the second oxygen probe (130) is of the on/off type and the means (13) are designed to convert the first signal (Vsp) into a third signal (Vspb) of the on/off type and to make the diagnosis on the basis of the second and third signals (Vsb, Vspb).

  • Patent number: 7308354
Abstract: A method of controlling elements used to execute the elementary functions of internal combustion engines. The method controls the elements using measurement signals provided by sensors, determines theoretical signals that have to be provided by reference sensors at a current operating point of the engine, determines deviations between the theoretical signals and the signals measured by the reference sensors, and establishes signal correction instructions for the elements according to the determined deviations.

  • Patent number: 7278260
Abstract: A method for controlling an internal combustion engine for regenerating an exhaust gas purifying mechanism arranged on an exhaust line of the engine during a phase of regeneration of the purifying mechanism. The method analyzes an exhaust gas composition solely downstream of the purifying mechanism and develops, based on the analysis, a control signal for the engine to modify an exhaust gas composition upstream of the purifying mechanism.

  • Patent number: 7230210
Abstract: The invention concerns a method for controlling the operating conditions of a probe (11) associated with means purifying (7) exhaust gases of an internal combustion engine (2), which consists in comparing an output signal of the probe with a reference value, and in acting on the probe (11) to decrease a difference between the output signal (S1) and the reference value.

  • Publication number: 20060185349
Abstract: The invention concerns a method for controlling an internal combustion engine (2) for regenerating exhaust gas purifying means (14) arranged on an exhaust line (4) of the engine (2), during a phase of regeneration of the purifying means (14), which consists in: analyzing an exhaust gas composition solely downstream of the purifying means (14), and developing based on said analysis a control signal for the engine (2) to modify an exhaust gas composition upstream of the purifying means (14).

  • Publication number: 20060117738
Abstract: A method in which a first oxygen sensor is disposed on an exhaust pipe upstream from a nitrogen oxide trap, and development of a meaningful signal representative of the signal supplied by the sensor is monitored. A substantial increase of the meaningful signal, which is obtained following a variation resulting from a motor being switched from running on a lean mixture to running on a rich mixture, from a first plate having an essentially constant level is used as an indicator to control an end of a purge process. The method can be applied to diesel engines.
