  • Patent number: 4058544
Abstract: Triorganotin derivatives of polymerizable ethylenically unsaturated carboxylic acids are prepared either in the presence or absence of solvent by reacting the acid or a suitable derivative thereof with a triorganotin hydroxide or a bis(triorganotin)oxide. Polymerization of the acid or the triorganotin derivative thereof is avoided by using a dehydrating agent to remove the water formed as a by-product of the reaction.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: December 6, 1974
Date of Patent: November 15, 1977
    Assignee: M&T Chemicals Inc.
    Inventor: Bernard G. Kushlefsky
  • Patent number: 4043949
Abstract: Cellular polyurethane exhibiting excellent thermal and oxidative stability can be prepared using specified methyl-, allyl-, phenyl- or benzyltin compounds as the polymerization catalyst. These catalysts are hydrolytically stable over extended periods of time, and can therefore be incorporated into precursors or masterbatches for polyurethanes that contain water as the foaming agent.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 6, 1975
Date of Patent: August 23, 1977
    Assignee: M&T Chemicals Inc.
Inventors: Kenneth Treadwell, Bernard G. Kushlefsky, Robert V. Russo
  • Patent number: 3933692
Abstract: This invention is a process for making a cellular polyurethane comprising reacting a polyalkylene polyol having reactive hydrogen atoms as determined by the Zerewitinoff method exhibiting a molecular weight of at least 500, an organic polyisocyanate, and water in the presence of a gel catalyst and a foaming catalyst comprising at least one compound selected from those of the formulae: ##SPC1##Wherein R is a hydrocarbon, and R' is selected from the group consisting of hydrogen, halogens, and hydrocarbons.
