  • Patent number: 5282741
Abstract: The present invention pertains to a grate plate utilized in a cooling apparatus.Substantially the entire surface area of the exposed surface is defined by alternating rows of a plurality of (1) substantially rectangular hollow air distribution plenums that travel substantially the entire length of the exposed area in a direction parallel to the movement of solid material through the cooling apparatus. The air distribution plenums have two side walls and a top surface with which the solid material transported to the cooling apparatus comes into contact, and (2) a plurality of pockets that also travel substantially the entire length of the exposed area in a direction parallel to the movement of solid material through the cooling apparatus. The said side walls of the air distribution plenums each have a plurality of air outlets or portals located thereon through which cooling air passes from the hollow interior of the air distribution plenum into a pocket located adjacent thereto.

  • Patent number: 5251826
Abstract: Prior to entering a tumbling media mill grinding chamber, feed containing clumps of adherent fine and coarse particles is brought into jarring contact with a moving member for liberating fine particles. Liberated fines are contacted, outside the chamber, with a current of gas to remove them from the remainder of the feed. At least a portion of this remainder enters a bed of charge material in the chamber and is ground with the media. When an indicator of a developing or existing over-fed or under-fed condition in the bed is sensed, adjustment of the jarring intensity, of the gas velocity or of both is made in response to the indicator for increasing and decreasing the quantity of fine particles removed from the feed. A clump separator, having an enclosure, jarring member and coarse solids outlet, may be used to liberate fines. This outlet is connected with a coarse solids inlet to the chamber. A path other than the coarse solids outlet is provided for removing liberated fine particles from the enclosure.

  • Patent number: 4934900
Abstract: An assembly for a cylindrical cage which includes vanes made up of blades and end lugs. The end lugs and vanes are attached to a frame by a ring element with a fastener securing the ring element, end lug and blade to the frame. The end lugs are dimensioned and shaped so that when the end lugs of adjacent vanes are nested together, the vanes are spaced apart the desired amount and the angular relationship between vanes is maintained so that the gas flow path between adjacent vanes has the desired configuration. The blades can be made separate from or integral with the end lugs. The invention is particularly designed for use in mounting guide vanes in a cage type air classifier for classifying particulate materials.

  • Patent number: 4828189
Abstract: An improved vertical roller mill for comminuting solid materials which includes a horizontal grinding table and cooperating grinding rollers and an improved apparatus for exerting a downward force on the grinding roller. This apparatus includes an external hydraulic piston-cylinder force exerting apparatus with a pair of link members external to the mill with a first link member in tension and a second link member in compression. The compression link is pivotally connected to the mill body and the force exerting apparatus and the tension link is pivotally connected to the force exerting means so that when the cylinder of the piston cylinder means moves down, the linkage mechanism results in a downward force on the grinding roll.

  • Patent number: 4694997
Abstract: An improved mechanism for exerting a downward force on a roller mechanism of a roller mill which includes a fluid actuated piston-cylinder device connected to the rocker arm of the roller by means of a link element pivotally connected at its one end to the piston-cylinder means and pivotally connected at its other end to the rocker arm.
