Abstract: A communications channel selection device aimed at solving the problems associated with selecting a preferred channel for two-way communication between an aircraft and the ground over TCP/IP packet-based networks. The device provides a means whereby policies for the selection of a preferred datalink are associated with the communications from aircraft-based applications so that communications are effected over the preferred channel according to a pre-defined set of policies.

Abstract: An aircraft data collection device directed at solving problems associated with the completion and return of aircraft operational data and/or technical log data. The device is for use by a plurality of users, each of the users having associated security level. The device has a security means for identifying a user and determining their associated security level, a user interface to obtain operational and/or technical data associated with an aircraft flight cycle, from one or more of the plurality of users. Each item of data has an associated security level, wherein the user interface only accepts an item of data from a user when the authorisation level of the user at least matches the authorisation level of the item of data.
