  • Patent number: 8561549
Abstract: A foldable ramp for evacuation of a vehicle, the ramp including hingedly connected primary and secondary side members, a primary fixed panel fixedly attached the primary side members, a primary flipping panel extending between the primary side members adjacent the primary fixed panel and having a first end pivotally connected to the primary side members and a second end free from the side members, and a secondary flipping panel extending between the secondary side members and having a first end free from the side members and hingedly connected to the second end of the primary flipping panel and a second end pivotally connected to the secondary side members. The ramp is configurable between a folded and a deployed position, with the panels in the deployed position forming a ramp surface and the panels in the folded position being stacked one against the other.

  • Patent number: 5580324
Abstract: The driven pulley is used in a variable-speed belt drive. It includes a clutch for transferring torque from the belt to the main shaft of the driven pulley. The clutch is alternatively movable between a disengaged position where the belt can still be in movement without transferring torque, and an engaged position where the torque is transferred to the main shaft. The clutch is controlled by the winding diameter of the belt. A plurality of rods is also provided for keeping the flanges from rotating relative to each other and for transferring torque from the flanges to a movable plate at the back of the clutch. This driven pulley reduces the wear of the belt, decreases the response time and increases the maximum torque that can be transferred compared with the conventional driven pulleys.

  • Patent number: 5458539
Abstract: The driving pulley is used in a variable-speed belt drive, which includes, in particular, two radially converging ramps facing each other and coaxial to a shaft, one ramp being rigidly attached to a movable flange and the other ramp being rigidly attached to the shaft in spaced relationship with the movable flange. A plurality of sliding flyweights are symmetrically located around the shaft and radially movable between the ramps. The improvement in the driving pulley is that each ramp includes a contact surface on which the flyweights are in contact wherein at least one movable ramp contact surface is curved. Each flyweight also includes a lateral knob engaged with the curved contact surface for ensuring that the contact point of the sliding flyweights with a curved contact surface does not substantially change as the flyweights slide.

  • Patent number: 5054820
Abstract: The disclosure herein describes a connector for use in a network of mains and tubes for directing sap collected from trees to a central sap-processing unit. The connector, which is used for conveying sap from a tube to a main, first comprises a clip for encircling the main. The clip consists of a separatable band having interlockable ends which are so shaped as to draw the band onto the main when interlocking is carried out. The connector also comprises a sap conveying member which is rotatably engaged in an opening defined in the band, the conveying member having one end adapted to penetrate a pre-pierced hole in the main. The conveying member is rotatably orientable with respect to the clip and to the main for connection with tubes having varying angles relative to the axis of the main.

  • Patent number: 4968075
Abstract: A tamper-proof tag, made of a unitary body formed of injection molded plastic material, comprises a fastener flexibly connected to a strap, the latter being foldable into a ring with one end engageable into a catch defined at the other end of the strap. The fastener is so configured that, once received in the catch, it may be forcingly engaged into an opening defined in the strap and extending in the catch of the engaged strap. Once engaged, the fastener cannot be removed without damaging the tag.

  • Patent number: 4926597
Abstract: The disclosure herein describes a device for collecting sap from trees and directing the sap to a sap collecting system operatable under vacuum conditions; it comprises a hollow body including a frusto-conical section adapted to be forced into the outer layers of a tree to be sap-collected. Adjacent the open end of the section is a series of longitudinal sap irrigating grooves allowing the sap to be collected and directed into the hollow body with the system is operating under vacuum conditions. To prevent air from being sucked into the hollow body as a result of the vacuum effect, the frusto-conical section has a groove in which is received a resilient element sealing the body to the of tree layers.
