  • Publication number: 20210212661
Abstract: Disclosed is an ultrasound system having a monitoring pad for application to a patient, an ultrasound probe that connects to the monitoring pad and has a plurality of ultrasound transducers, and an ultrasound beamforming device configured to control the ultrasound transducers to focus an ultrasound beam into the patient and to read resulting reflections of the ultrasound beam. The monitoring pad has an ultrasound gel pad and a support structure that holds the ultrasound gel pad. In accordance with an embodiment of the disclosure, the support structure is geometrically configured to receive the ultrasound probe and to hold it in a fixed arrangement against the ultrasound gel pad, such that the ultrasound gel pad is sandwiched between the patient and the ultrasound transducers. In some implementations, the monitoring pad has electrocardiogram electrodes and/or other sensor(s) unrelated to ultrasound, and the ultrasound beamforming device receives readings from the same.

  • Patent number: 6914195
Abstract: An oil-filled pole-mounted distribution transformer comprises a tank housing a transformer core-coil assembly immersed in cooling oil. The tank is made of a corrosion-proof composite material and a radiator is provided for cooling the oil. The radiator is external to the tank and has a hot oil inlet and a cool oil outlet located at different levels into the tank for causing a natural circulation of oil through the radiator by thermal siphoning.

  • Patent number: 6314895
Abstract: A method for treating at least one liquid fluid comprising a high water content, and including a volatile fraction and a heavy fraction, in order to separate said two fractions. Said method consists in burning at least one gas fluid, recuperating the heat released by said combustion for subsequently heating the liquid fluid. The heated liquid fluid is pressurised and then expanded so as to separate the volatile fraction from the heavy fraction. The volatile fraction is then burnt with the gas fluid. The heavy fraction is extracted from the process to be subsequently treated. The invention also concerns an installation for implementing the treatment method.

  • Patent number: 5730410
Abstract: A support arm for attaching a device in a suspended manner is described. The support arm comprises a carriage secured to a top portion thereof for displacement along a guide rail. A brake pad is retained in a top end of the support arm and is actuated by a rotatable sleeve disposed at the bottom of the support arm whereby the brake pad is releasably engaged to arrest the arm at a desired location along the guide rail. A connecting bracket is rotatably secured to a bottom portion of the support arm to secure a device to be supported by the arm. A locking mechanism is actuable by the sleeve to unlock the connecting bracket to permit the device and the bracket to be rotatably displaced to a desired position and locked at such position. Particularly, but not exclusively, the support arm is for attaching a medical instrument in a suspended manner inside a patient's room of an ambulance.

  • Patent number: 5507207
Abstract: The disclosure herein describes a cut and strip tool to assist in the stripping of insulation from one or more insulated conductive wires; it comprises a pair of handles which are equipped, at their upper part, with an elongated wire receiving element including, at one end thereof, a cutting tool for completely severing the wire and, at the other end, a pair of wire receiving blades which make an incision in the insulation of the wires as they are inserted in the blades and which, upon actuation of the handles, initiate removal of a portion of the insulation so that the total effort for a complete insulation stripping operation is greatly reduced with the present tool as compared to that of conventional tools as a result of this initial insulation removal carried by the tool rather than by the operator.

  • Patent number: 5485436
Abstract: An automatic disc handling system and method for retrieving and positioning information carrying discs between a storage position to a position of use is described. A displaceable robot having a pair of robotic arms is controlled by a computer connected to a robot controller and instructed to move to discrete positions, either in front of storage racks where a plurality of superposed sliding trays containing one or more discs are stored, or to a plurality of playback units disposed at a position of use to move selected ones of the disc to and from these positions as requested by a person accessing the discs from a remote station. The robot is provided with a tray engaging element to move the tray in and out of its storage position, and the robotic arms of the robot are each provided with a picker mechanism to engage and remove the discs from the trays or the playback units and transport them to effect a function as dictated by the computer and the robot controller.
