    Abstract: A motorized assistance device for use on an elevator wheelchair for handicapped persons includes a supporting cradle intended to be fitted on the chassis of the wheelchair; a motorization unit mounted on the cradle and including a mobile member, with reversible displacement, operatively connected to a transmission; at least one articulated system actuated by the transmission and including a first set of levers intended to act on articulated structure of the wheelchair, and a second set of levers actuated by the first set of levers and intended to act on a maneuvering assembly; and a unit for controlling operation of the motorization unit. The device is particularly applicable to manually controlled wheelchairs.

The body-supporting device for wheelchair for handicapped person is characterized in that it comprises: a first set of means comprising two rigid segments, each mounted on the backrest by an articulated system which blocks the segment in a vertical orientation as armrest or horizontal orientation as thoracic half-belt, and a second set of means comprising two cradel elements adapted to be immobilized in the same horizontal plane in alignment to form open leg guards fitting over the front of the subject's legs. The invention is applicable to wheelchairs.
