    Abstract: A tool comprising a housing having a handle and a distal end wherein the distal end includes a spindle capable of receiving a bit and defining an axis of rotation. The tool further comprises a quick-release chuck assembly that includes a sleeve and a trigger. The sleeve is disposed about the spindle and spring biased in a locked position wherein the sleeve is capable of being moved axially to an unlocked position to permit insertion of such a bit. The trigger includes a finger receiving portion and an actuator portion where the finger receiving portion extends from the housing in a position that enables the user to actuate the trigger with a finger of the hand holding the handle. The actuator portion is in physical communication with an engagement portion of the sleeve wherein the activation of the trigger causes the sleeve to move axially to the unlocked position.

    Abstract: A power tool comprising a housing having a member disposed therein and a spindle for receipt of a tool bit wherein the spindle is retained on a shaft. The spindle and shaft define an axis of rotation relative to the housing. The power tool further comprises a collet having a sleeve that includes a collet engaging portion disposed on an inner surface of the sleeve and an opening centered on the axis for passage of the shaft therethrough and for receiving the member disposed in said housing to permit axial sliding movement between a locked position and an unlocked position. The power tool further comprises a spindle engaging portion disposed on the spindle wherein the spindle engaging portion engages with the collet portion means when the collet is moved in the locked position thereby rigidly locking the collet and the spindle together to prevent rotational movement of the spindle.

    Abstract: The invention relates to a process for the preparation of a binary initial solvent zone for the crystallization in monocrystal form of a ternary or quaternary compound of given composition and containing Cd and Hg. It consists of choosing on the phase equilibrium diagram of the compound, the Cd and Hg concentration and the temperature which crystallization is to take place. When raised to this temperature, the initial solvent zone is able to dissolve the compound until a solvent zone in thermodynamic equilibrium therewith is obtained and on the basis of which it is possible to bring about crystallization. The composition of the initial solvent zone and the temperature at which it is to be prepared are determined on the diagram.

    Abstract: Process for the preparation of a polycrystalline alloy for producing monocrystals by passage in a solvent zone.The compound is completely melted by heating it to a temperature above its melting point and for a time sufficient for the homogenization of the liquid. This is followed by a cooling of the liquid by bringing it to a temperature below the melting point thereof. The sudden rise of the temperature occurring at the end of the superfusion of the liquid is monitored and the mixture then undergoes sudden tempering bringing about the instantaneous solidification of the entity in the form of a homogeneous polycrystalline ingot.

    Abstract: In a method of growing of single crystals which are practically free from misorientation, namely single crystals of metals which exhibit an allotropic change of state at a temperature below their melting points, single crystals of the raw metal which has undergone unidirectional solidification are heated to a temperature between the allotropic transformation point and the melting point of the metal, the single crystals are maintained during a predetermined period in the vicinity of this temperature and cooled to a temperature below the allotropic transformation point. The single crystals are then annealed in order to obtain complete recrystallization of the metal and finally cooled to room temperature.
