Abstract: A sliding hinge for mounting a nose cone or cover on a nacelle or housing, such as an equipment package suspended from the wing of an aircraft. Typically two hinges are used, positioned at opposite sides of the housing, for pivoting the nose cone upward to provide access to the equipment within the housing. Each hinge includes a sleeve mounted in the housing, a slide block sliding in the sleeve, and a slide arm pivotally attached to the slide block and mounted in the nose. To open the package, the nose is initially slid forward from the housing and then pivoted to an upward position. During this operation the slide arm slides out of the sleeve from a retracted position to an extended position and then pivots upward to the open position, with the slide block remaining in the sleeve.

Abstract: A latching mechanism having a keeper, a mounting bushing, and an engaging member adapted to engage the keeper. A first compression link is adapted to pivot about the mounting bushing and a second compression link is pivotally connected both with the first compression link and the engaging member. A plane between the mounting bushing and the pivotal connection between the engaging member and the second compression link defines a load line. The connection between the first and second compression links is adapted to be moved from an initial or secured position adjacent the engaging member and on one side of the load line to a released or unlatched position spaced apart from the engaging member and on the opposite side of the load line.

Abstract: An adjustable keeper for rotary latches utilized to secure panels or doors in flush relation to the surrounding surface of an aircraft, the latch being rotatable about an axis perpendicular to the surface of the panel or door, and including an externally accessible flush handle; the keeper including a keeper member movable radially with respect to the latch; an adjustable screw, the head of which is disposed in registry with a small opening through which may be inserted a turning tool such as an Allen wrench, and a connecting mechanism for converting rotation of the screw to radial adjustment of the keeper member.
