  • Patent number: 4118883
Abstract: An improved fishhook comprises a hook-carrying member and a line-carrying member pivotally joined for relative movement therebetween. The hook-carrying member is provided with an elongated shank for engagement with a releasing handle for enabling the freeing of the fishhook from a fish caught thereon. Release is effected by maintaining the line-carrying member in a substantially vertical position and using the releasing handle as a lever to provide a mechanical advantage as it is moved through a pivotal traverse. The movement of the handle is translated to the hook-carrying member to enable release of the fish from engagement with the fishhook.
