  • Patent number: 6718684
Abstract: A fishing lure comprises a lure body having means for attachment to a fishing line at its front end, one or more fish hooks, and one or more weights mounted along the lower surface of the lure body. The weights are retained along the lower surface of the lure body by a releasable weight mounting means, preferably in the form of a resilient wire, having a fixed end and a movable end which is releasably secured to the lure body. The weights are movable along the mounting means to shift the center of gravity of the lure body toward the front end or the rear end, and release of the movable end of the mounting means from the lure body permits the addition or removal of weights, thereby permitting adjustment of the weight of the lure.

  • Patent number: 6141839
Abstract: A clip for attaching a fishing lure or hook to a fishing line comprises an elongate body having a central support member bridging first and second loop portions formed at respective proximal and distal ends of the clip. The support member has a shoulder intermediate its length which reduces the width of the clip near its distal end. The first loop portion is adapted to open, and includes an arm member having a first end connected to the support member through a bend at one end of the clip, and a U-shaped hook member connected to a second end of the arm member. In the open configuration of the clip, the U-shaped hook member is disengaged from the remainder of the clip, and in its closed configuration, the U-shaped hook member is received around the support member at a point distal to the shoulder, such that the presence of the shoulder effectively reduces the displacement of the arm between its open and closed configurations, thereby reducing fatiguing of the metal comprising the clip.

  • Patent number: 5655329
Abstract: A clip for attaching fishing hooks, lures, or other objects to a line. The clip comprises an elongate body having a central support member bridging first and second loop portions formed at either end thereof; a first arm member that is an extension of the first loop portion and that ends in an overturned u-shaped hook; and, a second arm member that is an extension of the second loop portion and that ends in a ring. The ring is positioned below and adjacent to the central support member and in a plane approximately perpendicular to the first and second loop portions. When the clip is open the overturned u-shaped hook is disengaged from the remainder of the clip. When the clip is closed the overturned u-shaped hook is received upwardly through the ring and around the central support member with the free end of the overturned u-shaped hook protruding downwardly back through the ring.

  • Patent number: 5365688
Abstract: A fish gaff apparatus has a hook member and a pole member. The hook member has a nook portion and a cover portion that is biased to assume different positions relative to the hook portion. The cover portion in a first position extends between both ends of the hook portion to prevent injury by the hook end of the latter. The cover portion in a second position holds the hook member on the pole member. Using the pole member, the hook member is inserted into a fish. The pole member is then moved relative to the hook member to disconnect those two members, and the bias between the two portions of the hook member moves the cover portion back toward its first position to press against the fish. The hook member may be constructed from a single length of wire.

  • Patent number: 5038514
Abstract: The invention provides a simple fish stringer having a reclosable fastener. The invention enables persons fishing to conveniently store freshly caught fish while keeping them alive in the water, and facilitates carrying them later. The stringer involves a rod of spring metal having two ends, formed so as to define a generally triangular shape, the ends being fastenable to each other to close the triangle. Preferably, the triangular shape is defined by a first leg, leading to an integral second leg, leading in turn to an integral third leg, the first and second legs and the second and third legs being at angles of generally less than about 45 degrees with respect to each other. Preferably, the ends are fastenable to each other by virtue of a catch formed in one end, preferably the free end of the first leg, the other end preferably being pointed. The spring metal acts to urge the first leg away from the second leg against the end of the third leg to engage the catch.
