    Abstract: A raster-type drawing machine (plotter), automatically controlled from a controller, which consists in a tubular structure of rigid elements that join and support the elements of feeding, printing, advancement, and collection of sheet material. The sheet-paper-collection and feeding modules are formed by a set of rollers and disks that support the sheet material. The controlled one-way movement of the sheet material in the direction X is carried out through two rollers whose length is much smaller than the width of the material to be printed. The machine includes guides fixed to its structure through which a carriage set carrying the print heads moves according to axis Y.

    Abstract: Pilot device for a suspended cutting knife of a cutting head of an automatically controlled cutting machine. The cutting head is moved along the X and Y axes and pivots about the Z-axis. The cutting knife is reciprocally movable along the Z-axis. The cutting head includes a device for guiding the unsuspended part of the cutting knife and a pressure foot rigidly connected to the pivotal cutting head. The suspended end of the knife is mounted in the cutting head so as to be freely rotatable around the Z-axis. The guiding device is adjacent to the free end of the knife and comprises a socket rigidly connected to the cutting head having a support which is freely rotatably mounted in the socket around a vertical axis located in front and adjacent to the cutting edge and parallel, at a predetermined distance, to the Z-axis. The support has a slot surrounding the flanks of the knife.

    Abstract: A method and an apparatus for sharpening a cutting blade of a numerically controlled cutting apparatus which includes a conveyor for supporting material to be cut and a cutting head assembly mounted on a carriage disposed above a cutting surface of the conveyor. The cutting head assembly includes a cutting blade, a mechanism for rotating the cutting blade about an axis perpendicular to the cutting surface, a mechanism for raising and lowering the cutting blade and a pair of grinding wheels for sharpening the cutting blade. The rotating mechanism rotates the cutting blade from a first angular position at which cutting is performed to a second angular position at which the pair of grinding wheels sharpen the cutting blade.

    Abstract: In a flat table drawing plotter, an image is drawn on the portion of a continuous work piece, e.g., a sheet of paper, located on a drawing table. Upon completion of the drawing of the image, a trace line is drawn at the rear end location of the image. The drawing carriage, having an optical detector means mounted thereon, is moved to the forward end of the table. The work piece is advanced with the optical detector means in continuous contact therewith. The advance of the work piece is stopped when the optical detector means detects the trace line. Then, the drawing carriage is slowly moved until the optical detector means again detects the trace line thereby identifying where the prior drawing of the image was completed. Drawing of the image is then recommenced.
