  • Patent number: 10064464
Abstract: A shoe for canes and crutches composing a cylindrical tubular member having an end mounted to the end of a shaft or crutch, and the other end having a central bore axially extending inwardly a defining a first bottom and coaxially disposed second bore having a smaller diameter than said first bore and extending a second predetermined distance defining a second bottom. A circular plate with a central through opening biased by a coil spring member coaxially disposed around a post. A cap member is sandwiched between a knob connected to the plate for rotating the latter and causing it to move along the post to engage the irregular through opening to a cutout in the post.

  • Patent number: 9402777
Abstract: An underarm shock absorber assembly 10 mounted to one end of a crutch stick providing calibrated support to a user. The different portions of the saddle assembly 30 ergonomically conform to a user's underarm and the compression of springs 47 is selected depending on a user's gait and preferences. Assembly 10 is mounted substantially perpendicularly to an underarm crutch stick with a truss assembly 20 having through openings 26 and sockets 42 mounted to support assembly 40 pass through through openings 26 housing spring members 47. Saddle assembly 30 includes supporting plates 31 with posts 32 having distal counterbored end 132 to which tubes 36 are mounted at one end. The other end of tubes 36 coacts with spring members 47.

  • Patent number: 9144275
Abstract: A shoe for the sticks canes and crutches having a base member with four outwardly extending pads and a central flat portion. A frustoconical top member mounted above the base member is joined to a cup member for receiving the distal end of a cane or crutch member. The junction between the top member and the cup member define a waist portion that is flexible and resilient mimicking the movement of a human ankle when a person walks. Irregularities on the bottom of the pads 24 and underside 22 enhance the traction.

  • Patent number: 8142381
Abstract: A foot brace assembly for immobilizing a user's foot while providing some degree of flexibility through independent shock absorbers that avoid drastic application of loads to the user's foot. A top shoe assembly is coupled through spring members to a bottom shoe assembly that has slightly larger dimensions to receive the top shoe assembly. The underside of the bottom shoe assembly includes rear, middle, and front assemblies that are independent from each other and are compressed depending on the user's gait. The underside of the shoe assembly includes perpendicularly mounted upper tubular members that telescopically receive and guide corresponding lower tubular members that are perpendicularly mounted to the upperside of the sole assembly. The lower tubular members are mounted to depressed walls below the sole assembly's upperside to reduce the effective separation of the shoe and sole assemblies while providing a sufficient guiding distance.

  • Patent number: 7992584
Abstract: A walker with wheels that are retracted upon the application of a force of predetermined magnitude to permit a user to move the walker when he or she partially leans on the walker while providing a solid anchored support if he or she leans with more weight exceeding a predetermined magnitude. The walker includes a structural elongated assembly with a handle and forearm cuff at one end. The other end is rigidly mounted to two base assemblies that are kept at a parallel and spaced apart relationship with respect to each other. The base assemblies have a bottom surface. Retractable wheels are mounted to the base assemblies. The wheels are spring biased to protrude beyond the bottom surface so that they support the walker when at rest and as long as the user does not apply a force that exceeds a predetermined magnitude.

  • Publication number: 20090235966
Abstract: A forearm crutch with a telescopic leg that includes a shoe assembly at the distal end with convex surfaces for the forward and rear portions to maximize contact area upon making contact with a supporting horizontal surface and as the load transmission ends. The other end of the leg is rigidly mounted to a housing that receives a pivotally mounted handle assembly with a locking mechanism for settling the former at a predetermined angular disposition over a given angular range. An adjustable forearm support assembly is mounted to the housing, opposite to where the leg is mounted. The crutch includes battery operated light and horn circuits that can be readily actuated by a user.

  • Patent number: 7347215
Abstract: An improved forearm or under arm crutch. The crutch features an extension which slides horizontally out of one of the handles and solidly connects to the tip of the other handle to form a stable seat where the user can rest. The crutch also features shock absorbing means. A shock absorbing means is at the foot of the crutch to cushion at the handle and another above the handle to independently cushion the forearm cuff or under arm pad. The crutch also features adjustable handles that articulate relative to the frame to comfortably accommodate users with various needs. The handle may also include a shock absorbing means integrated within the handle pad.

  • Patent number: 7252089
Abstract: A apparatus and method for protecting a patient's area from aerobic contamination comprising a flexible drape assembly adhered to the surrounding area being operated on. The drape assembly includes two sheet members having predetermined cooperative dimensions and joined to each other defining an internal cavity with a plurality of outlet openings through the first sheet member. The internal cavity is pressurized with clean filtered air. The apparatus also includes a suction assembly with inlet ports mounted in the proximity of the area being operated on. A non-preferential turbulence free laminar flow is achieved away from the protected exposed area.
