  • Patent number: 5337854
Abstract: A jib assembly is disclosed, for use with an articulated boom carried by an aerial device, having a compact configuration of components which allows a high degree of freedom in the rotation of the jib in the vertical plane and reduced obstruction of the rotational adjustment of the bucket carrier on the boom in the horizontal plane, relative to existing arrangements. A chain and sprocket arrangement driven by a hydraulic motor powers rotation of the jib coaxially with the bucket shaft and, where a winch is used, with the axis of rotation of the winch. The arrangement simplifies the routing of hydraulic hoses and affords a more compact and less cluttered arrangement of components at the tip of the boom, which has safety advantages in the environment of a tight distribution of power lines, where distances between live and grounded apparatus are small.

  • Patent number: 4807819
Abstract: Finely divided powdery materials such as, e.g., precipitated silica are granulated by means of two rolls, one of which has a filter surface and the other has a profiled covering, in which the shafts of these rolls are arranged vertically one above the other and the finely divided powdery material is introduced into the gap between the rolls by means of at least one feed screw.

  • Patent number: 4697648
Abstract: A spring-loaded suspension system for a power-driven auger or screw anchor suspended from the boom of a digger derrick includes a cushing device to cushion shock loads and vibration. The system is articulately connected to the boom by a linkage which provides a universal pivotal connection between the power drive and the boom. In one embodiment of the invention the linkage is a spring-loaded telescopic link. In an alternative embodiment of the invention a torque-transmitting coupling between the output shaft of the power drive and the auger or screw anchor is itself a spring-loaded telescopic link.

  • Patent number: 4238322
Abstract: A silicic acid filter cake and suspension agent are fed to a container equipped with a stirrer having a peripheral speed of about 20-30 m/sec. The ratio of container diameter to stirrer diameter is about 3:1. The ratio of container diameter to level of filling is a maximum of about 1:2. The container contains at least about 1.5 to about 2 kg of silicic acid suspension, for each 1 kg of silicic acid filter cake which is added to the container. The contents of the container is mixed while maintaining a pH of at most about 4. A portion of the resulting silicic acid suspension is drawn off from the zone of highest turbulence in the container. An apparatus for carrying out the process is provided.

  • Patent number: 4224295
Abstract: A finely divided silicic acid having a pH>6 is prepared by spray drying, in the presence of a base or basic-reacting substance, a highly concentrated silicic acid suspension having excess, unwanted acidity.

  • Patent number: 4045881
Abstract: Air is vented from steam-charged heating pipes of a tubular rotary dryer via connector pipes and a collecting pipe which is disposed circumferentially around the dryer drum. Holding blocks provided with inwardly-biased rollers support the collecting pipe for longitudinal movement on the exterior wall of the dryer drum.
