Patent number: 11905047Abstract: A transport unit transports a package combination through a wrapping unit that wraps it with a cutout such that a front end of the cutout and a rear end of the cutout are arranged to overlap each other while lying on the transport unit. The transport unit includes a wrapping belt that passes through the wrapping unit for conveying the combination along a transport plane from an inlet to an outlet. The wrapping belt comprises long belts and short belts that are parallel to each other and that circulate in a transport direction. The long belts extend from the wrapping-belt inlet to the wrapping-belt outlet and the short belts extends from the wrapping-belt inlet as far as an end region that falls short of the wrapping-belt outlet. Each of the short belts is arranged between a pair of the long belts, thereby forming free spaces between the long belts.Type: GrantFiled: July 15, 2020Date of Patent: February 20, 2024Assignee: KHS GmbHInventors: Bernd Cox, Michael Jörissen

Publication number: 20230115847Abstract: In a method for packaging products, the products are packaged with a packaging material on a packaging line. The packaging material is first of all drawn off a first packaging-material reel and fed to the packaging line. When the first packaging-material reel has been at least partially used up, an initial portion of a second packaging-material reel is made to overlap with a packaging-material portion already drawn off the first packaging-material reel and is joined to the latter packaging-material portion. After the two packaging-material portions have been joined together, the packaging material is drawn off from the second packaging-material reel and fed to the packaging line. The two above-mentioned packaging-material portions are joined together by a stamping operator of a stamping device. There is also described a packaging installation for carrying out the method.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 10, 2021Publication date: April 13, 2023Inventors: Michael Jörissen, Bernd Cox

Publication number: 20220281624Abstract: A bundling machine comprises a transporter that conveys the bundle along a transport direction, a wrapper that receives the bundle from the transport direction and that is configured to surround the bundle with a paper cutout as the bundle proceeds along the transport direction through the wrapper such that a front end and a rear end of the paper cutout overlap, and a tensioner that is configured to be brought into engagement with the paper cutout to temporarily apply a tension to the rear end against the transport direction so as to cause the rear end to be held taut against the front end.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 13, 2020Publication date: September 8, 2022Inventors: Stefan Wagner, Karl-Heinz Klumpe, Bernd Cox, Michael Jörissen, Wilfried Ehmer

Publication number: 20220274723Abstract: A bundling machine includes a wrapper that wraps the combination while it rests on a forward end of a paper cutout and a rear end of the paper cutout overlaps the forward end of the paper cutout while the combination moves in a transport direction, a transporter having a wrapping belt and a removal belt that follows the wrapping belt along the transport direction for conveying the combination of packages along a transport plane in the transport direction through the wrapper, and a controller that controls the relative speed of the belts so that, while the combination contacts both belts, the wrapping belt moves faster than the removal belt, thereby causing the rear end to sustain a tension in the direction of the forward end.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 13, 2020Publication date: September 1, 2022Applicant: KHS GmbHInventors: Bernd Cox, Michael Jörissen, Thomas Lelie

Publication number: 20220250776Abstract: An apparatus includes a folding unit and a transport unit that transports a package assembly on a transport plane towards the folding unit, the package assembly comprising containers that have been wrapped in a paper blank that comprises tabs that project past the containers. The tabs comprise a lower tab that is coplanar with the transport plane. The folding unit comprises a folding-device that folds lower tabs with plates arranged on both sides of the transport unit. The plates move with three degrees-of-freedom: along the transport unit, towards the package assembly, and perpendicular to the transport plane.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 15, 2020Publication date: August 11, 2022Inventors: Thomas Lelie, Bernd Cox, Michael Jörissen

Publication number: 20220009726Abstract: A gripping unit grips a base having a thickness that is defined by an upper side and a lower side thereof and that conveys a product on the upper side. The gripping unit has a pair of first guides with corresponding guide surfaces in contact with the base. The guide surfaces extends as far as beneath the lower side of the base.Type: ApplicationFiled: October 22, 2019Publication date: January 13, 2022Inventors: Simon Uphues, Lothar Wess, Oliver Heisig, Bernd Cox, Christopher Stuhlmann

Patent number: 10246206Abstract: A method for packaging groups of articles to form packaging units, includes sheathing a packaging unit with a film as it moves in a running direction on a transporting path by simultaneously forming a film cover and flaps projecting beyond the packaging unit along a direction perpendicular to the running direction, and positioning the flaps against the packaging unit as the packaging unit moves through a folding unit, fixing the flaps, and forming a film wrapper that is closed on all sides of the packaging unit. A preliminary-fixing step, which includes positioning the flaps in relation to one another, and initially fixing the flaps by generating heat, and exposing the flaps to the heat, follows. This is followed by a definitive-fixing step that includes exposing the packaging unit, as a whole, to generated heat.Type: GrantFiled: August 8, 2013Date of Patent: April 2, 2019Assignee: KHS GmbHInventors: Bernd Cox, Michael Jörissen

Patent number: 4147758Abstract: Aluminum polyphosphate is made. To this end, solid aluminum hydroxide and polyphosphoric acid which are used in proportions corresponding to an Al:P molar ratio of 1:2.5 to 1:3.5, are introduced separately from, but concurrently with, one another into a reaction zone kept at 150.degree. to 200.degree. C. A moist friable consistency of the starting materials is maintained in the reaction zone by continuously mixing, kneading and comminuting them over substantially the entire period during which they are introduced into the reaction zone. The reaction is continued until a dry sandy powder is formed; and the powder is annealed at 400.degree. to 600.degree. C. over a period sufficient to yield a product undergoing a 0.5 to 1% weight loss on ignition.Type: GrantFiled: May 9, 1977Date of Patent: April 3, 1979Assignee: Hoechst AktiengesellschaftInventors: Renate Adrian, Raban VON Schenck, Bernd Cox, Peter Wirtz
