  • Publication number: 20110227694
Abstract: The present invention relates to a device (100) and method for interfacing a signal transmission/reception device (200) and a catheter (300). A signal transmitted by the signal transmission/reception device (200) and supplied to the device (100) via a first interface (102, 104, 106, 108) can be sensed by a first sensor (114). The sensed signal may be adjusted by an adjustment unit (116). The adjusted signal can be output via a second interface (110, 112) and supplied to the catheter (300). In this way, a resistance loss caused by a conductor (302, 304) of the catheter (300) may be compensated for.

Abstract: An electromagnet comprises: a ferromagnetic core (50, 72); electrically conductive windings (34, 76) disposed around the ferromagnetic core such that current flowing in the windings magnetizes the ferromagnetic core; and a superconducting film (60, 80, 82) arranged to support eddy current cancelling supercurrent that suppresses eddy current formation in the ferromagnetic core when the windings magnetize the ferromagnetic core. A magnetic resonance scanner embodiment includes a main magnet (20) generating a static magnetic field and a magnetic field gradient system (30) with a plurality of said electromagnets (34, 50, 60) configured to superimpose selected magnetic field gradients on the static magnetic field.

  • Publication number: 20100267567
Abstract: A magnet system, in particular for a magnetic resonance examination system, comprises a superconductive main magnet having a near group of coil windings and a remote group of coil windings. A gradient coil system forms a source of power dissipation into at least part of the coil windings. The near group of coil windings and the remote group of coil windings are near and remote from the source of power dissipation, respectively A cooling system has a high-temperature cooling station and a low-temperature cooling station. The high-temperature cooling station cools mainly the near group of coil windings. The low temperature cooling station cools mainly the remote group of coil windings. The near and remote group optionally are made of different superconductive materials. Thus, additional degrees of freedom are achieved which allow less expensive magnet design.

  • Publication number: 20100094123
Abstract: The present invention relates to an electrically conductive transmission line for transmitting RF signals, in particular for transmitting MR signals between a transmission and/or receiving coil (11) and a transmitting and/or receiving unit (12), by which separate known matching networks can be avoided or reduced. A transmission line is proposed comprising a plurality of lead segments (31) coupled only by transformers (32, 33) having a transformer impedance ZL placed between two neighbouring lead segments, wherein for power matching of the two transformers (32, 33) placed at opposite ends of a lead segment (31) said lead segment (31) has a low lead segment impedance Zo and/or a high dielectric constant ?r and wherein said lead segment (31) has a short length 1. Thus, the lead segments themselves provide the matching of the transformers, and separate matching circuits are no longer needed.

  • Publication number: 20100067662
Abstract: For x-ray tubes the focal spot temperature is a critical factor. According to an exemplary embodiment of the present invention, an examination apparatus is provided which has a synchronisation unit providing an operation mode for a stereo tube in which the anode rotation frequency is synchronised with the switching frequency such that the switching frequency is a half integer multiple of the anode rotation frequency. This may lead to a significant reduction of the focal spot temperature.

  • Patent number: 7127036
Abstract: A device for generating X-rays having a source for emitting electrons accommodated in a vacuum space, a liquid metal for emitting X-rays as a result of the incidence of electrons, and a pump for causing a flow of the liquid metal through a constriction where the electrons emitted by the source impinge upon the liquid metal, the constriction having a cross-sectional area which, seen in a flow direction, increases so that during operation in the flow direction, a decrease of a flow velocity takes place such that a decrease of a pressure of the liquid metal in the constriction, caused by viscous flow losses, substantially corresponds with an increase of the pressure caused by the decrease of the velocity so that a uniform and relatively low mechanical load is exerted on a window separating the constriction from the vacuum space during operation.

  • Patent number: 6961408
Abstract: The invention relates to a device for generating X-rays (31). The device has a source (5) for emitting electrons (27) accommodated in a vacuum space (3). The X-rays are emitted by a liquid metal as a result of the incidence of the electrons. The liquid metal flows through a constriction (13) where the electrons emitted by the source impinge upon the liquid metal. The constriction is bounded by a thin window (23), which is made from a material which is transparent to electrons and X-rays and which separates the liquid metal in the constriction from the vacuum space, and by a wall (25) opposite to the window. According to the invention, the wall (25) has a profile (p) which matches a profile (p?) which the window (23) has, during operation, as a result of a deformation of the window caused by a pressure of the liquid metal in the constriction (13).
