  • Patent number: 6634268
Abstract: A method for cutting sections from a specimen using a microtome wherein a cutting knife or specimen is advanced by an advancing carriage into a sectioning plane of a disk microtome. The advancing carriage is moved by a motor drive in order to bring the specimen into contact with an area sensor. When the specimen comes into contact with the area sensor, the position of the motor drive is determined and is compared with a stored position of the sectioning plane. The stored position is previously determined by manually locating the position drive motor when the specimen contacts the area sensor. Control signals for the motor drive are calculated from the two position values, and the advancing carriage is advanced into the sectioning plane by the motor drive taking these control signals into account.

  • Patent number: 6598507
Abstract: A microtome for producing thin sections, in which the cutting operation is performed by way of a relative movement between a cutting knife and an object. A drive system (14) having a drive motor (17), a control circuit (15), and a handwheel (8) is provided to generate the relative movement. The handwheel (8) is connected to an encoder (16) that delivers corresponding signals to the control circuit (15) upon rotation of the handwheel (8). The drive motor (17) is then activated accordingly by way of said control circuit (15). In the absence of encoder signals, the drive system (14) is locked.

  • Patent number: 6568307
Abstract: A microtome (1) having a motorized feed drive system (2) for generating a relative movement between an object (7) that is to be cut and a cutting knife (4). A control circuit (8) and a pressure-sensitive sensor (9) are provided for detecting a position between the cutting knife (4) and the object (7). The motorized feed drive system (2) is switched via the control circuit (8) when the sensor (9) responds. The sensor (9) is equipped with a sensor surface (14) that is at least exactly as large as the surface (16) of the object (7). The sensor surface (14) is arranged parallel to the cutting plane (17).

  • Publication number: 20030059281
Abstract: A delivery device (5) for cassettes and/or specimen slides for histological preparations in a printing system (11) is described. The cassettes and/or specimen slides are in each case arranged one above another in stack magazines (6), a control device (1) being provided for removal of a cassette and/or specimen slide from the stack magazines (6). The improvement comprises a drive shaft (12) having a motor (13) for at least two stack magazines (6), and the motor (13) is connected to the control device (1).

  • Patent number: 6230011
Abstract: A method for acquiring traffic data from vehicles equipped with at least one decentralized unit having at least one function for mobile communication a second function for obtaining time information and a third function for data storage. At least one central unit with control functions and processing functions assigned to a plurality of decentralized units, wherein decentralized unit receives and evaluates information characterizing radio cells, and other technical radio and transmission information and information which characterizes cell changeover is recorded together with time stamps.

  • Patent number: 6070123
Abstract: A process for a vehicle control and information system in which data and traffic-related information are transmitted by means of at least one radio-transmission system between a vehicle and a central unit. A data-processing unit in the central unit and/or a data-processing unit in the vehicle are used to calculate at least one route, and the route data is transmitted by means of the data-transmission system between the vehicle and the central unit. The data-processing unit in the central unit and/or the data-processing unit in the vehicle simulate in real time the motion of the vehicle, the real-time simulation being carried out both in the vehicle-mounted data-processing unit and in the data-processing unit in the central unit using signals which are it transmitted over the radio transmission system. The vehicle position in the real-time simulation of the motion of the vehicle is displayed in the vehicle together with additional information relevant to the traffic.

  • Patent number: 6058788
Abstract: A description is given of a drive device for an automatic embedding machine (1) for treating samples (17) for histological examinations, having a plurality of containers (4, 5) which are arranged one beside the other and are each assigned an object holder (6). The object holders (6) are fastened, on a lifting device (18), over the containers (4, 5), the lifting device (18) having a turntable (7) and a rotatably mounted guide rod (8). The guide rod (8) is designed such that it can be moved by a motor, perpendicularly with respect to the direction of rotation of the turntable (7), via the lifting device (18). Provided for the purpose of driving the guide rod (8) is an open-ended, flexibly designed drive element (21) which, at its first end, is arranged between two rollers (26, 27) of the motor drive (20) and, by means of its second end, is connected fixedly to the housing (24) of the automatic embedding machine (1).
