Patent number: 9723504Abstract: A sounding method in a cellular wireless communication system, comprising at least one mobile station and at least two base stations. One base station is a serving base station for the mobile station and the at least one further base station is a neighboring base station. The serving base station generates a schedule for measurement signals and transmits said schedule to the mobile station and to the neighboring base station. The mobile station transmits measurement signals in accordance with the schedule to the serving base station and to the neighboring base station. Furthermore, the neighboring base station calculates a mean channel state for the uplink channel from the mobile station to itself and transmits the mean channel state to at least one further base station, so that said base station can be provided with channel estimations for uplink channels between the mobile station and all base stations.Type: GrantFiled: July 10, 2009Date of Patent: August 1, 2017Assignee: Alcatel LucentInventors: Mark Doll, Hardy Halbauer, Bozo Cesar, Yejian Chen, Robert Fetscher, Bernd Gloss, Oliver Stanze

Patent number: 9338787Abstract: The present invention relates to a method and apparatus for optimizing radio coverage and power consumption within a mobile communication network (1). In accordance with an embodiment of the invention, radio measurements (UE_meas1; BS_meas1; BS_meas2) carried out by subscriber devices (11) and/or radio base stations (21; 23), as well as user geographical locations (UE_pos1; UE_pos2; UE_pos3) at the time the radio measurements have been carried out, are gathered. Antenna geographical locations (ant_pos22; ant_pos23) are then derived from the radio measurements and the user geographical locations, and radio propagation models (rpm22; rpm23) from the antenna geographical locations that best fit the radio measurements at the user geographical locations. The so-derived radio propagation models from the so-derived antenna geographical locations are then supplied to a radio resource controller (41) for activation of dormant cells (C22; C23).Type: GrantFiled: May 23, 2013Date of Patent: May 10, 2016Assignee: Alcatel LucentInventor: Bernd Gloss

Patent number: 8007778Abstract: Methods useful in the regulation of myocardial contraction are disclosed. The methods are useful in the regulation of heart function. The invention reveals that sorcin overexpression enhances cardiac contractile performance and establishes the concept of sorcin as a regulator of myocardial contractility. The invention also provides screening assays that allow for the identification of agents that modulate sorcin expression. Such agents are useful, for example, for diagnosing cardiac contractile function associated disorders in subjects, and treating the subjects with the agents identified as being able to modulate sorcin expression.Type: GrantFiled: June 28, 2004Date of Patent: August 30, 2011Assignee: The Regents of the University of CaliforniaInventors: Wolfgang H.
