  • Patent number: 4712896
Abstract: A photosetting apparatus has a segment (11) of a regular cylinder consisting of aluminium in the interior of which a sheet-like photosensitive material (12) is mounted with the photosensitive layer directed inwardly. A rotary mirror (38) arranged on a carriage is illuminated axially by a laser beam and scans the photosensitive material (12) in the circumferential direction while the carriage is advanced axially. The photosensitive material (12) is brought into contact with the inner side of the segment (11) over its full area by compression in the circumferential direction. The photosensitive material (12) is guided by two guide rings (23) which can be arranged at different spacings within the segment (11).

  • Patent number: 4684228
Abstract: In a photosetting apparatus which operates with a rotary mirror (25) which is illuminated by a modulated laser beam and which is arranged on a carriage (15), the carriage (15) is axially movably suspended on a tie beam (13) which simultaneously connects two basic members (12) provided at the end faces of the apparatus with one another into a rigid arrangement. A transparent regular cylindrical body (30) is clamped between the basic members and the photosensitive material which is scanned by the laser scanning beam (69) is laid around the transparent regular cylindrical body.

  • Patent number: 4595957
Abstract: Photocomposition apparatus comprises a modulated laser for generating a modulated laser beam; a holder for the photosensitive material, with the holder having the shape of a segment of a cylinder whereby the photosensitive material in the holder adopts a partially cylindrical shape; an optical image forming system and a rotatable mirror arrangement mounted on a carriage, by means of which the rotatable mirror arrangement can be displaced with its axis of rotation coaxial to the cylinder axis of the holder along this cylinder axis. The laser beam which falls on the rotatable mirror arrangement via the optical image forming system, and which is substantially radially directed towards the photosensitive material in the holder after reflection at the rotatable mirror scans the photosensitive material linewise as a result of rotation of the rotatable mirror and displacement of the carriage along the cylinder axis of the holder, and thereby generates a desired latent pattern in the photosensitive material.

  • Patent number: 4349272
Abstract: The exposure time of a reproduction camera 22 is automatically controlled by markings 12, 26 provided on the packaging 11 for the photographic material and which represent the sensitivity of the material and its emulsion number respectively. These markings are read by a read head 13 and stored in a memory 14. A decoder 15 is able to translate the stored information into a signal which is passed to a multiplier 24 and used to modify a basic time signal supplied from a coding switch 25 to the multiplier. The resulting signal is passed to a comparator 17. On receipt of a signal at the comparator 17 an exposure control device 16, which has been previously energized via start button 20 energizes the exposure lamps 21 and the exposure commences. A counter 19 starts a count at the beginning of the exposure period and this count is compared in the comparator with the signal received from the multiplier 24 and, as soon as equality is reached, the exposure control device is automatically switched off.

  • Patent number: 4185914
Abstract: A reproduction camera for producing screen modified images of an original copy suitable for subsequent use in the production of ink printed pictures features an objective lens spaced apart from a film holder located at the image plane of the objective by an extensible bellows. A light source providing the conventional priming (or bump) exposure used in processing screen modified images is arranged within the bellows closely adjacent the edge of the film holder surrounding the image plane. Light from the light source is directed toward the bellows so that only scattered light, which is thus evenly distributed, is received at the image plane. The light source is conveniently four separate lamps arranged generally at the corners of the bellows and the images of these lamps formed at the object plane of the objective helps in initially locating the original from which the screen modified image is to be made.
