  • Patent number: 4756476
Abstract: A railway switch is mounted on y-shaped sleepers. All sleepers in the switch have a medium portion of equal slightly s-shaped configuration and length. The length of the straight and parallel ends depends on the position of the individual sleeper in the switch. The sleepers extend alternately from one outer rail in the direction to the other outer rail. The crossing piece is supported by y-shaped sleepers which underlie only the crossing piece and alternately one of the outer rails in the switch. If the switch comprises a straight and a curved line, all sleepers supporting the outer straight rail are arranged at a right angle to the straight line and protrude outwardly over the straight rail in the same length. Preferably the sleepers are composed of two s-shaped I-beam steel profiles and additional shorter I-beam steel profiles at the bifurcated straight ends, all pairs of adjacent I-beams being connected at a distance forming a slit for inserting a coach screw.

  • Patent number: 4634087
Abstract: A grooved rail switch with a tongue rail device includes a tongue rail displaceably supported on a torsion-stiff support box for movement between a stock rail and a switch rail. The support box is made up of an upper slide plate, a lower bottom plate and flat bars extending between and welded to the slide plate and bottom plate. High strength bolts secure the stock rail to one side of the support box and the switch rail to the other side.

  • Patent number: 4589617
Abstract: This invention relates to an improvement in a frog for switches, in particular for rapid transit switches, with a junction rail mounted in a rotatable manner and adapted to close a gap between pairs of rails of straight or branch track, the improvement comprising that the two ends of the junction rail have the shape of an isosceles triangle and the corresponding ends of a transit rail taper on one side, whereby a continuous rail-head profile is formed when the junction rail abuts the transit rail.

  • Patent number: 4210300
Abstract: This invention relates to an improvement in a point switch in which the switch blades or tongues are composed of rail sections of the trunk or main track and are displaceably positioned on slide chairs in the transverse rail direction, the improvement comprising a shaft on which each slide chair is slidingly mounted between two bearing blocks, one of the bearing blocks being inside the track and the other of the bearing blocks being outside of the track, welds rigidly connecting the bearing blocks with a joint base plate, and two rods on each chair parallel to the shaft, a first one of the rods being adapted to contact a stop in a recess in the outside bearing block, and a second one of the rods being adapted to contact a lock in a recess in the outside bearing block, whereby in an unlocked condition the first one of the rods contacts the stop, and in a locked condition the second one of the rods contacts the lock.

  • Patent number: 4174820
Abstract: This invention relates to an improvement in an apparatus and method for moving a railway switch composed of travel rail sections of a main track which are pivoted by positioning elements to rail sections of a branch-off track and locked by closing elements in a particular position with respect to a switch plate extending across the switch, the improvement comprising two positioning sleds, a profiled guide rail supporting each of said sleds, one of said guide rails being outside of and parallel to said travel rail sections of said main track, and the other of said guide rails being outside of and parallel to said rail sections of said branch-off track, and a cross-piece on each positioning sled, each of said cross-pieces having a compression roller mounted thereon and adapted to engage the inside of a rail head of an adjacent travel rail.
