  • Patent number: 8847241
Abstract: The invention is directed to a surface emitting semiconductor light-emitting diode (LED) in which a reflector layer (4) of the first conductivity type is provided between a substrate (2) and a first barrier layer (5). A first contact layer (9) has at least one emitting surface (13) via which radiation emitted by an active layer (6) exits the LED. The emitting surfaces (13) are electrically and optically isolated from one another by surface implanted regions (11) in the first contact layer (9) which are irradiated with electric charge carriers. The areas of the layers located below the emitting surface (13) starting from the first contact layer (9) and proceeding as far as at least through the active layer (6) are electrically and optically isolated with respect to areas of the layers not located below the emitting surface (13) by means of first deep implanted regions (12.1) irradiated with electric charge carriers.

  • Patent number: 5285253
Abstract: In order to ensure that, in a cuvette for holding substances to be analyzed preferably by optical means, more particularly for the analysis of chromogenic substances, solutions and substrates, having a measuring section that is closed at the bottom for accommodating the substance, that, when providing optimal marginal conditions for the measurement, the handling of the cuvette prior to, during and subsequent to the termination of the measurement operations, can take place with a minimal risk of contamination, it is proposed that, to the measuring section, a section extending the cuvette adjoins, with the aid of which a preferably detachable plug-in connection can be established to the measuring section of a further cuvette.

  • Patent number: 4964728
Abstract: A blood coagulation time measuring device includes a stirrer drive arrangnt for rotating a stirring rod placed inside the measuring vessel when the vessel is inserted in a measuring channel of the device. A light detector assembly within the device determines the degree of coagulation formation in the measuring vessel by transmitting a light beam from a light source through the measuring vessel and onto a photo-electric cell. Light balancing circuitry coupled to the light source and the photo-electric cell automatically adjusts the brightness of the light from the light source in correspondence with the turbidity of liquid in the measuring vessel. A control switch arrangement operates to turn the stirrer drive arrangement on or off in response to operation of the light balancing circuitry.
