  • Patent number: 4364536
Abstract: A seat adjusting mechanism, arranged to be operated by an electric motor, for use with a motor vehicle seat is disclosed. The seat adjusting mechanism is supported by at least two slide tracks which extend along the length of the seat and which are placed through glide tracks each spaced away from the vehicle floor. The seat adjusting mechanism comprises at least one rack situated on one of said guide tracks and extends along the length of the guide track. The rack has one end connected by means of a connecting body to the slide track lying above it. The rack contains a long slot which has teeth formed on one side thereof for contacting a pinion which is situated to engage the teeth and is connected to an electric motor for movement of the seat adjusting mechanism. • Patent number: 4272048
Abstract: A seat component of an adjustable seat, particularly of a motor vehicle seat, is mounted on a base component for movement generally in the forward and rearward direction of the seat. A toothed rack is rigidly mounted on the seat component, and a pinion member is mounted on a driving shaft and meshes with the toothed rack. A driving element of a disk-shaped configuration is rigidly connected to the driving shaft and has a plurality of circumferentially distributed openings which receive corresponding tooth-shaped projections of the pinion member to entrain the pinion member for joint rotation with the driving shaft. The pinion member is displaceable axially of the driving shaft to engage the tooth-shaped projections in, and disengage the same from, the corresponding openings of the driving element.

  • Patent number: 4260178
Abstract: The anchoring means for safety belt buckles for adjustable motor vehicle seat includes a guiding member in the form of a U-shaped slide shoe engageable with a holding rail secured to the vehicle floor. The slide shoe supports for rotation a gear segment and a pinion in mesh with the gear segment. The pinion is movable in a vertically directed onlong slot and engageable with an arresting projection above the upper end of the oblong slot so that during the accelerated motion of the gear segments which are normally coupled to the belt buckles the segments are arrested and the excessive forces are transmitted to the body of the motor vehicle.

  • Patent number: 4252370
Abstract: A gravity and inertia responsive latch mechanism for accommodating pivotal forward tilting of a vehicle seat back to permit ingress and egress of back seat passengers when the vehicle is stationary without requiring manual release and for automatically preventing forward tilting of the seat back under sudden deceleration such as incident to a front end collision. A spring detent cooperates to resist initial forward tilting of the seat back rendering the inertia latch more dependable under marginal and unusual conditions of operation.

  • Patent number: 4252369
Abstract: The arresting device for a forwardly inclinable backrest of a vehicle seat comprises a hook-shaped pawl which is pivotably arranged on a lateral side of hinged mounts for the backrest to engage in the normal position of the backrest a stop member projecting from the seat part. The lower arm of the U-shaped porton of the pawl is provided with a claw which in this normal position engages a corresponding nose of a retaining member which is also pivotably supported on the mounting part and is controlled by a manually operable releasing lever. A tension spring arranged between the pawl and the retaining member urges the pawl into a standby position when the latter is released from engagement with the holding member and also urges the holding member into a ready-to-close position.

  • Patent number: 4195881
Abstract: A hinged mount for vehicle seats having reclinable backrest includes a motor driven pivot axle connected to a setting shaft for the angular position adjusting and arresting device. The shaft supports for joint rotation an axially displaceable coupling disk having on each face thereof a ring of coupling teeth. The pinion of the driving motor is in mesh with an idling gear supported on the setting shaft and a cup spring urges the coupling disk into engagement with the idling gear. In the case of accidental rotation of the setting shaft caused by inertial forces acting against the backrest in the case of an accident, for example, the coupling teeth of the coupling disk slide on the toothing of the idling gear and the teeth on the other side of the disk engage an arresting ring which is secured to the reclinable mount part.

  • Patent number: 4141583
Abstract: A motor-vehicle seat displaceable relative to a fixed support in a motor vehicle between a pair of end positions is powered by a motor whose output shaft may be rotatable in only a single predetermined rotational sense. Mechanism is provided having an input rotatable in one direction for displacing the seat on the support of the motor-vehicle from one end position into the other end position and rotatable in the other opposite direction for displacing the seat on the support from the other end position into the one end position. A motion-converting transmission is connected between the output shaft of the motor and the input of the displacement mechanism for automatically driving this input alternately in the one direction and in the other direction on continuous rotation of the motor output shaft in only the one sense.

  • Patent number: 4130029
Abstract: A drive arrangement for moving a glass panel of a window of a vehicle has a motor and an input member connectable with the motor means for moving the glass panel. The input member is rotatable in two opposite directions so as to close or to open the glass panel. At the same time, the input member is displaceable between a first position in which it is coupled to a drive shaft of the motor and is rotated by the latter, and a second position in which the input member is uncoupled from the motor so as to be rotated by hand. A lock is provided which is inoperative in the position when the input member is coupled to the motor, and is operative in the position when the input member is uncoupled from the same. When the lock is operative permits rotation of the input member for closing the glass panel, but does not permit the rotation for opening of the latter so that unauthorized opening of the glass panel is prevented. The lock is formed as an overrunning lock provided with a locking element.

  • Patent number: 4082008
Abstract: A positioning mechanism for moving a window of an automotive vehicle or adjusting the seat thereof has a pinion rotatable on a support by means of an adjustment knob and having two axially spaced arrays of gear teeth. The teeth of one of these arrays is angularly offset relative to the teeth of the other array. A lever connected to the load being moved is pivotal on the support and formed with two axially spaced racks each of which meshes with a respective one of the arrays of the pinion. The lever may be formed with a pair of axially joined plates each formed with a respective one of the racks and the pinion may have a radially outwardly extending flange projecting between these plates to insure that each rack remains in mesh with the respective array of teeth on the pinion. In addition a brake may be provided for resisting rotation of the pinion by the lever and for allowing rotation of the pinion by the shaft carrying this pinion.
