  • Patent number: 8573626
Abstract: A tractor includes a vehicle coupler which couples with a trailer brake coupler to connect it to a pressure source for the trailer brake system. The pressure source is driven by a controllable drive unit, and an electronic control unit controls the activation of the drive unit. The vehicle coupler includes a first sensor which is connected to the control unit and which senses when the trailer coupler is coupled to the vehicle coupler. The control unit controls the activation of the drive unit in response to the sensor in order to prevent the pressure source from being driven unnecessarily.

  • Patent number: 7748488
Abstract: The invention relates to a steering system for an agricultural or industrial utility vehicle, especially for a tractor. An electric drive (22, 24) is provided for each half of an axle, preferably a front axle (20), of the utility vehicle (10). Said electric drive can be driven by at least one wheel (26) associated with the each axle half. The electric drive (22, 24) can be controlled in such a manner that predetermined torque can be transmitted from the electric drive (22, 24) to the wheel (26) which is being driven. Preferably, the wheels (14) associated with a mechanical drive axle, particularly a rear axle (12) of the utility vehicle (10), can be driven by a mechanical drive (16, 18) of the utility vehicle (10). The invention also relates to a method for operating a steering system.

  • Publication number: 20100038189
Abstract: The present invention relates to an arresting brake (10) for arresting at least one rotatably mounted component (12, 14) with respect to a housing (32), and is suitable in particular for use in an agricultural or industrial utility vehicle. The arresting brake (10) comprises an electromagnet (26), two armature components (40, 42) and two rotatably mounted components (12, 14). The electromagnet (26) preferably has a core (26) and a coil (30; 50, 52). The armature components (40, 42) are arranged such that they can move in relation to the electromagnet (26) and are rotationally fixed with respect to the housing (32). The electromagnet (26) is arranged between the armature components (40, 42), in order to arrest the rotatably mounted components (12, 14) using the arresting brake (10), in each case an armature component (40, 42) can be engaged with, in each case, one rotatably mounted component (12, 14).

  • Patent number: 7555903
Abstract: The invention relates to a system for regulating the pressure of tires mounted on a vehicle. The vehicle has an engine with a turbocharger which is a compressed air source for the pressure regulating system. The turbocharger has a variable geometry in order to supply a sufficiently high pressure.

  • Publication number: 20080087480
Abstract: The invention relates to a device for generating electrical energy for an agricultural or industrial commercial vehicle, comprising an electrical machine (18) which may be operated as a generator, which may be mechanically driven by an internal combustion engine (12) on the vehicle and which comprises a stator (22) and a rotor (20). A mechanical torque generated by the internal combustion engine (12) may be transmitted by a shaft (14, 38) to a gearbox (40) on the vehicle. The rotor (20) of the electrical machine (18) is fixed to a flywheel (16) or an output shaft (14) of the internal combustion engine (12). The rotor (20) has a hollow armature embodiment and the shaft (14, 26, 38) runs through the rotor (20). A damper (26) is provided between the internal combustion engine (12) and gearbox (40) for damping mechanical torque variations.

  • Patent number: 7287612
Abstract: A drive system for vehicles, especially for commercial vehicles such as agricultural or industrial tractors, the vehicle having at least one first wheel that is driven by an associated axle or single-wheel drive motor and at least one second wheel, in the drive train of which a gearbox that can be shifted between at least two speed transmission steps is arranged. To avoid vehicle speed drops while shifting the change-speed gearbox and to avoid interfering shifting jolts, it is suggested to provide a device for the detection of a shift command and a control unit, which in the presence of a shift command automatically applies a greater load at least on the drive motor driving the first wheel, controls the shifting operation of the change-speed gearbox of the second wheel and then lowers the load of the drive motor driving the first wheel.

  • Publication number: 20070203629
Abstract: The invention relates to a vehicle axle system for agricultural or industrial utility vehicles, comprising a movably, preferably oscillatingly, mounted vehicle axle (30) to which at least two wheels (28) can be rotatably fixed. A torque tube (38) is provided, one end of which can be connected to a vehicle (10) frame (14) while the other end thereof can be joined to the vehicle axle (30) so as to support the axle suspension. An electric drive (32) by means of which at least one wheel (28) that is fixed to the vehicle axle (30) can be driven is disposed on the vehicle axle (30). The aim of the invention is to supply the electric drives (32) with electrical power via supply lines which will not be damaged in normal conditions. The inventive vehicle axle system is characterized in that electrical components (40, 42) for the electric drive (32) are provided on, preferably in, the torque tube (38).

  • Patent number: 7051777
Abstract: An axle assembly has a fixed axle housing, a rotating axle body rotatably mounted in said axle housing, and a first chamber which surrounds the axle body. The first chamber is partially bounded by a ring member which rotates with the axle body. An annular disc is mounted on the axle body adjacent to the ring member. The disc extends radially outwardly beyond an outer rim of the ring member and radially overlaps the ring member. The disc is axially slidable towards and away from the ring member. When the disc is spaced apart from the ring member an opening or space is formed therebetween through which may be communicated pressurized air to inflate a tire. The disc is moved axially by a ring mounted on an annular piston member which is mounted on and axially movable with respect to the axle housing.
