Patent number: 11940291Abstract: A method for updating a map of the surrounding area wherein the map is used when controlling a transportation vehicle. The transportation vehicle attempts, when travelling along a carriageway, to detect a landmark recorded in the map of the surrounding area using sensors. In response to the transportation vehicle being unable to detect the landmark using its sensors, the transportation vehicle prepares a proposal for deletion which is sent to an external central computer. The proposal for deletion is examined in the external central computer and deletes the landmark from the map of the surrounding area in response to the proposal for deletion being verified. In the method, information regarding a visibility range for the landmark is entered in the map of the surrounding area specifying at what range the landmark is visible from a road permitting a more effective detection of landmarks.Type: GrantFiled: July 25, 2019Date of Patent: March 26, 2024Assignee: VOLKSWAGEN AKTIENGESELLSCHAFTInventors: Daniel Wilbers, Christian Merfels, Bernd Rech, Thilo Schaper, Niklas Koch, Stefan Jürgens, David Perdomo Lopez, Constanze Hungar

Publication number: 20230071761Abstract: A method for operating a discharge lamp by modulating a current signal is presented. The discharge lamp is operated with at least two different frequencies. At first a probability distribution function for a first number of first frequency periods and a second number of second frequency periods is defined. Next, the first number of first frequency periods and the second number of second frequency periods are determined depending on the probability distribution function by at least one random number. The current signal is modulated by applying the first number of first frequency periods and the second number of second frequency periods to the current signal for operating the discharge lamp.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 30, 2022Publication date: March 9, 2023Inventors: Michael HEISE, Bernd KOCH, Sascha PILTZ, Kai WOLTER

Publication number: 20230063322Abstract: The invention describes a method for operating a discharge lamp by adapting a current signal. A distribution function is defined for gathering several time span values that define several different time spans. The several time span values are determined depending on the distribution function by one or more random numbers. The current signal is commutated at every instant of time according to an expiry of each of the several time spans. A light apparatus is provided with a control unit to perform any method.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 30, 2022Publication date: March 2, 2023Inventors: Bernd KOCH, Michael HEISE, Sascha PILTZ, Kai WOLTER

Patent number: 11161165Abstract: One aspect relates to a method of producing a sleeve for a ring electrode for electrophysiological and neuro-medical applications from a biocompatible metallic tape. Repetitive structures are punched into the tape and each includes at least one surface that is connected by at least one fin to at least one external strip. The at least one external strip connects the repetitive structures to each other on the margin. A sleeve mold is formed from a multiple of the repetitive structures through multiple reforming steps by a reforming technique. The sleeve mold is punched off the such that the sleeve is formed with a first tube-shaped region with a larger diameter and a second tube-shaped region with a smaller diameter. The first region with the larger diameter has a larger external diameter and internal diameter than the second region with the smaller diameter, and the two regions are connected.Type: GrantFiled: November 18, 2016Date of Patent: November 2, 2021Assignee: Heraeus Deutschland GmbH & Co. Patent number: 10206271Abstract: A gas discharge lamp includes at least two electrodes arranged in a manner spaced apart with a spacing in a discharge vessel filled with gas. A method of operating a ballast includes applying electrical energy to the electrodes. The ballast provides an electrical electrode current including a ripple current being dependent on an operating frequency of converter. Operating frequency is dependent on a charging time period and a discharging time period for an electrical energy store of the converter. The operating frequency is chosen such that the ripple current in the region of an arc discharge brings about a resonant excitation of the gas, and providing a pause time period between the discharging time periods and the respectively succeeding charging time period, the time duration of which pause time period is chosen such that a sum formed from the time periods attains the period duration corresponding to the operating frequency.Type: GrantFiled: November 23, 2017Date of Patent: February 12, 2019Assignee: OSRAM GmbHInventor: Bernd Koch
