  • Patent number: 7634964
Abstract: A quantity of ink is dosed in an inking system of a printing machine, which inking system is provided with at least one dosing device that can be used to modify the quantity of ink which is transferred by the inking system. The dosing device can be adjusted by the use of an adjusting element to modify the quantity of ink that is to be transferred. A modification of the quantity of ink is defined by an adjustment of the adjusting element. The dosing device is adjusted in accordance with a pre-determined correlation between the amount of the adjustment of the adjusting device and the current state of the dosing device. The adjustment of the dosing device is carried out in accordance with the correlation in such a way that a relation between the modification of the quantity of ink caused by the adjustment of the dosing device, and the ink quantity transferred by the dosing device remains essentially constant.

Abstract: An assembly in a printing unit of a rotary printing press includes at least one plate cylinder, three ink forme rollers, two vibrator rollers and an ink separator roller. Both of the vibrator rollers are applied directly to the ink separation roller. One of the ink forme rollers is applied to both one of the vibrator rollers and the plate cylinder. The secondary two ink form rollers are applied both to the other vibrator roller and to the plate cylinder. The plate cylinder is covered with several printing formes. An upper ink forme roller is located such that a horizontal line that is tangent to the circumference of that upper ink forme roller is positioned at a vertical decline of at least 50 mm from a horizontal line that is tangent to the circumference of the plate cylinder.

  • Publication number: 20090217832
Abstract: A printing unit is comprised of at least two cylinders which cooperate with each other in a printing group. At least one of these at least two cylinders is movably mounted so that it can be positioned against the other of the at least two cylinders by the use of at least one actuator, which is preferably configured as a power-controlled actuator. A control device is provided and in which several different preset values, which represent different levels of contact force between the two cylinders, are stored. Such data storage is in accordance with a criterion which concerns machine data and/or consumed material data and/or operational data. • Publication number: 20090205520
Abstract: A drive unit is provided for a rotating component of a printing press, which rotating component is disposed between spaced lateral frames. A bearing assembly supports the rotatable component so that it is movable in a direction of movement which is perpendicular to the axis of rotation of the rotatable component. A journal of the rotatable component does not penetrate an alignment of the lateral frame in its mounted orientation. The rotatable component is rotatably driven by an independent drive motor. A rotor of the drive motor is joined to the journal of the rotatable component in a torsion-proof, detachable configuration. A bearing assembly for the journal is provided with a movable bearing block that receives the journal of the rotatable component, and which is located on an interior portion of the bearing assembly, relative to the plane of the lateral frame. A stator of the driving motor is rigidly, and removably connected to the movable bearing block.

  • Patent number: 7055428
Abstract: A characterizing number for a cylinder dressing having an elastic layer is determined. The characterizing number is then usable to select suitable geometries of rollers in a printing press. If the roller geometry is already known, the characterizing number facilitates the selection of a suitable dressing. The characterizing number characterizes the roll-off behavior of a dressing independently of a measuring device used to determine the number or an application in a particular printing group.
