  • Patent number: 9764603
Abstract: A method for measuring the depth of tread in a vehicle tire includes measuring acceleration signals from a tire module arranged on the inner side of the tire. A minimum acceleration value is then determined during rotation of the vehicle tire and at a constant traveling speed whereafter the maximum internal radius of the inner side of the tire is determined in the center of a ground contact area of the vehicle tire. The depth of tread of the vehicle tire is determined with signal processing whereafter the determined depth of tread is transmitted to a receiving unit in the vehicle.

  • Patent number: 9375983
Abstract: An apparatus for displaying the state of the tire pressure for a vehicle tire of a truck trailer includes a lamp to optically display the tire pressure state. An arm is provided with the lamp arranged thereon. A mount fixes the arm to the truck trailer and the arm is made substantially of an elastomer material so as to cause the arm to be flexibly deformable when colliding with a foreign object. The arm reverts back to its initial configuration after such a collision as a result of its elastic material characteristic.

  • Publication number: 20120279867
Abstract: A method for producing a metal coating on a plastics material part includes connecting each of a plurality of plastics material parts to a flexible support via a respective connecting part so as to temporarily chain the plurality of plastics material parts together. Each connecting part is attached to a respective one of the plurality of plastics material parts on at least one side. An electrically conductive connection is provided between the flexible support and each of the plurality of plastics material parts via the respective connecting part so as to provide a current supply for producing a galvanic metal coating layer on a conductive layer of each of the plurality of plastics material parts.

  • Publication number: 20080045417
Abstract: The present invention relates to oligonucleotide microarrays comprising short chemically modified RNA oligonucleotides and uses of such microarrays in genomics applications. More specifically, the invention provides an oligonucleotide array comprising a surface and a plurality of oligonucleotide, wherein at least one oligonucleotide has at least one modified sugar moiety at the 2'OH position. The microarrays of the invention are more specifically useful to detect small RNAs.

  • Publication number: 20070170162
Abstract: Method for cutting through a semiconductor material, includes providing a semiconductor material, and directing a laser beam toward a cutting zone of the semiconductor material. Method further includes selecting a wavelength of the laser beam such that the laser beam is partially transmitted by the semiconductor material under partial absorption, in use, the wavelength of the laser radiation ranging from approximately 1100 to approximately 1150 nm. The wavelength of the laser radiation is selected such that the transmittance of the semiconductor material is approximately 30 to approximately 60%. The method makes possible a rapid and precise cutting through of semiconductor materials, such as wafers. A device for cutting through semiconductor material likewise is provided for cutting through semiconductor materials, such as a wafer.

  • Patent number: 5242476
Abstract: For the production of glass fiber optical waveguides with increased tensile strength, these are drawn from a glass preform with a single-layer or multi-layer of additional sheathing of a glass material, with the material of at least the outermost layer in each case having a lower coefficient of thermal expansion as compared with the layer located underneath it or with the material of the preform. During the drawing process, the fiber is drawn from the preform in the cold state with increased tensile force of 70 to 200 cN.

  • Patent number: 5160359
Abstract: For the drawing of an optical fiber from a solid blank, the latter is conducted vertically through a furnace and, during this process, is heated to the drawing temperature at its lower end, from which the fiber is drawn out in the form of a drawing onion. The drawn fiber is then cooled down from the drawing temperature by means of a gas stream moving in the opposite direction to the drawing direction and, in this process, a rotational flow is impressed on the cooling gas stream in addition to the longitudinal flow.

  • Patent number: 4476888
Abstract: An overpressure-control valve has a valve housing formed with a front output chamber, a back intake chamber adjacent and back of the output chamber, and a valve seat lying between the chambers. A valve body can move in the housing forward toward the valve seat into a closing position on the seat and blocking flow between the chambers and backward from the valve seat and into an open position permitting flow between the chambers. This body has at least one forwardly directed face and at least one backwardly directed face exposed in the chambers. The effective surface area of the forwardly directed face is greater than that of the backwardly directed face. A spring urges the valve forward into the open position with a predetermined generally constant biasing force so that the valve body moves back against the spring into the closed position when the backwardly effective pressure on the forward face overcomes both the force of the spring and the pressure on the back face.

  • Patent number: 4143851
Abstract: A gas-oil drive for forward and reverse mechanical adjusting movements. Gas, which is available for every direction of movement of an adjusting drive at a pressure greater than atmospheric pressure, conveys its pressure in a pressure tank to control oil which flows to an adjusting device for carrying out a control operation. For both oppositely directed adjusting movements of the gas-oil drive, a single pressure tank for delivering control oil under pressure to the respective corresponding position of the adjusting device, and a single unpressurized container for receiving expelled, unpressurized control oil are provided. The unpressurized container is located above the level of the pressure tank, and a bore on the unpressurized container is connected with a bore on the pressure tank by means of a control oil line in which is located a check valve which closes in a direction of flow toward the unpressurized container.
