  • Publication number: 20050247384
Abstract: A copper wire has an average copper content of at least 99.95 wt.% and at least one accompanying element alloyed with the copper. The ratio of the percentage by weight of the accompanying element and the percentage by weight of the residual oxygen concentration has a value in the range of 0.8 to 1.7. The percentage by weight of the accompanying element varies along a length of wire by a maximum of 25%, based on the maximum percentage by weight of the accompanying element. The copper wire is produced by a process that includes a casting operation followed by further processing. The copper melt is protected from the surrounding atmosphere until it has solidified. To guarantee exact alloying of the accompanying element, the equipment for the production of the copper wire has an automatic metering control system connected to a metering device.

  • Patent number: 6293373
Abstract: The present invention relates to a retaining spring for a housing of a spot-type disc brake, especially an integrated disc brake for motor vehicles, in which a brake carrier of the disc brake is integrated in the steering knuckle of the vehicle, the retaining spring including at least one spring ann extending essentially in circumferential direction and clamping the housing and the brake carrier in relation to each other. In order to install the housing retaining spring in a pre-assembled state on the brake housing without further processing and to fix the outer lining in the foreseen position the present invention teaches attaching the housing retaining spring on a part of the disc brake, especially on the outer brake lining in a swiveling manner.

  • Patent number: 5466352
Abstract: A method for processing waste sulfuric acid which is contaminated with halides and has an acid content up to 40% which comprises subjecting the waste sulfuric acid to an electrodialysis in which the electric field causes the univalent halides to permeate through an anion exchange membrane and to be selectively removed while the divalent sulfate ions of the sulfuric acid are substantially retained, the sulfuric acid leaving the electrodialyzer being almost entirely free of halides. A corresponding apparatus is also provided.

  • Patent number: 4944935
Abstract: A process of producing blue copper hydroxide, wherein copper metal is treated with an ammonium ion-containing aqueous solution with stirring and with a simultaneous introduction of an oxygen-containing gas and the reaction product is separated from the copper metal. A particulate, floatable copper (II) hydroxide is produced in that a material which contains copper metal is treated at a temperature of 0.degree. to 40.degree. with a solution which contains 0.1 to 10 g/l ammonium salt (calculated as NH.sub.4), 0 to 10 g/l ammonium hydroxide (calculated NH.sub.3) and, if desired, 0 to 5 g/l copper (II) salt and the resulting copper (II) hydroxide is separated.

  • Patent number: 4834842
Abstract: The effectiveness of organic additives acting as inhibitors during the electrolytic deposition of metals from aqueous electrolytes, which contain organic additives for improving the deposition of metal, is electrically measured. In order to permit an improved and more reliable check of the effectiveness of the inhibitor and to permit a controlled supply of makeup inhibitors at the required rate, a partial stream of the electrolyte is supplied to flow at a constant velocity in a measuring cell provided with at least three wire electrodes having a fresh conductor surface, a measuring current of 5 mA to 1.0 A is supplied to the electrodes and is maintained, and the slope of the plotted cathode potential-time curve in the range from 0.1 to 50 minutes is taken as a measure of the effective conecentration of the inhibitor.

  • Patent number: 4818280
Abstract: Nonferrous metal powder or nonferrous metal powder mixtures are made by reacting a metal compound in an aqueous medium with an aqueous sugar or starch solution with stirring and optionally at an elevated temperature and the precipitated metal powder is separated. The nonferrous metal oxide or hydroxide in a concentration between 20 and 400 g/l (calculated as metal) is treated in the aqueous medium at a pH-value above 3.2 and at a temperature between 20.degree. and 160.degree. C. and the virtually oxide free nonferrous metal powder which is precipitated is separated. Oxides or hydroxides of the metals Cu, Ag, Ni, Co, Sn, Pb, Sb, As, or Bi are used.
