  • Patent number: 6715245
Abstract: An impact resistant laminated glass and plastic pane is provided for a hurricane resistant door light or similar opening. A glass pane is attached to a flexible plastic sheet that protrudes beyond the peripheral edge of the glass, preferably as an extension of the plastic laminate between outer glass laminate sheets. The pane body is mounted in a building structural part such as a door or wall, at an opening or at a recess, whereby the surface of the structural part extends up to a point adjacent to the pane. The flexible sheet that is attached to the pane, laps over the surface adjacent to the edge of the structural part around the pane. An elongated molding element that preferably frames the opening, is attached to the structural part so as to capture the flexible sheet between the molding element and the surface.

According to an inventive aspect, the flexible sheet that is attached to the pane, e.g., laminated into the pane body or otherwise attached and protruding, laps over the surface adjacent to the edge of the structural part around the pane. An elongated molding element that preferably frames the opening, is attached to the structural part so as to capture the flexible sheet between the molding element and the surface.

  • Patent number: 5018330
Abstract: A door light for use with a residential or commercial exterior door is disclosed. A plurality of glass holding clips are peripherally spaced about the door opening to position and secure a pane of glass within the door opening. Each clip includes mating interior and exterior members and the members are secured together by threaded fasteners which insert through aligned openings in the clip members. The interior and exterior clip members are provided with at least a pair of spaced projections. Interior and exterior decorative frames peripherally overfit the interior and exterior peripheries of the door opening. The decorative frames are provided with recesses or grooves in alignment with the clip member projections to permit snap-on attachment of the decorative frames over the clip members in a manner to completely shield the clip members and the fasteners.

  • Patent number: 4466220
Abstract: A self-locking, clear plastic clip is used to attach a decorative grillwork to a framed window insert. The clip may be factory installed between the window glass and the frame to allow for the later application of a decorative grill over the window without the need to drill holes through the grill and the insert frame. The clip is generally channel-shaped in cross sectional configuration and includes a web of length suitable to span the grill border. An attaching leg depends from one end of the web and is formed with a transverse tongue for engagement within the frame putty groove. A grill connection leg depends from the other end of the web to secure the grill in planar juxtaposition to the glass. A nib-like head extends upwardly from the web to facilitate bending of the clip for grill installation purposes.
