  • Patent number: 5634698
Abstract: An ABS which evaluates slip values prescribes pressure values for the wheel brakes. In order to improve the driving stability, these pressure values are varied by a brake controller using the deviation of the yawing speed from a set value and the front-axle steering angle as input variables. The brake controller determines its output values (variation values) with the aid of the fuzzy logic. Additionally, rear-axle steering is integrated into the system, the system partially also using fuzzy logic. Subsequently, an adaptation which is based on fuzzy logic and uses the brake controller and the rear-axle steering controller in a weighted fashion is proposed.

  • Patent number: 5233958
Abstract: The invention is directed to an arrangement for the open-loop and/or closed-loop control of an operating variable of an internal combustion engine. The arrangement includes an electronic open-loop and closed-loop control unit which is influenced with an actuable positioning component operating on the operating value in dependence upon at least one operating variable. This arrangement includes at least one safety means which changes its signal condition in predetermined positions of the actuator. Devices are included for precisely determining and detecting the position of the signal condition change. These devices control the actuator in predetermined operating conditions independently of the operating variable.

  • Patent number: 5216916
Abstract: An electronic engine power control system is disclosed for a motor vehicle wherein a measuring arrangement is utilized for determining the position of an actuating element. The measuring arrangement is configured in such a manner that it has different resolutions in various ranges of the position of the actuating element. The open-loop or closed-loop control of the position of the engine power-determining element or of the actuating element in idle or near idle is undertaken in dependence upon the measurement signal of high resolution while, outside of the idle or near idle range, the control of the actuating element is undertaken in dependence upon measurement signals of low resolution or a straight open-loop control of the position of the actuating element.

  • Patent number: 5161505
Abstract: The invention is directed to a method and an arrangement for detecting measured values in combination with an engine control system for motor vehicles. The position of an adjusting device is determined on the basis of stored extreme values of this position and the detected positioning signal. The stored extreme values are corrected or learned anew at the end of an operating cycle of the motor vehicle after the engine is switched off.

  • Patent number: 5146892
Abstract: A method and an arrangement for the open-loop and/or closed-loop control of the engine power of an internal combustion engine of a motor vehicle is suggested. For checking a safety function, the arrangement intervenes in the fuel metering in the sense of reducing engine speed when an operating condition critical to safety is present. This safety function is triggered in the overrun operation of the internal combustion engine independently of the safety condition and the correct performance is checked. The safety function is detected as being defective when a unlimited metering of fuel takes place in this operating condition when the safety function is triggered.

  • Patent number: 5146886
Abstract: A method for controlling an internal combustion engine is proposed, in particular in conjunction with control systems for engine power, in which, in order to avoid potentiometer failures due to deposits of insulating abraded material on the potentiometer track due to the movement of a positioning component, in particular a throttle flap, in overrun operation, with released accelerator pedal and above a pregiven resume engine speed where there is fuel cutoff, the positioning component is briefly moved out of its fixed position or is closed beyond its pregiven idle position. On reaching a certain position for upon renewed fuel supply due to the engine speed falling below the resume engine speed, the positioning component is abruptly reset to its fixed position.

  • Patent number: 5060613
Abstract: A system for transferring a control position of a set-point value transducer between the gas pedal and the throttle valve. The system includes an electromechanical device which can adjust a throttle valve out of its position of reponse in opposite directions. This is attained by an intermediate element, which is capable of coming to rest on a repose-position stop. The system is particularly well suited to motor vehicles having traction and/or cruise control.
