  • Patent number: 12171069
Abstract: An explosion-protected housing having a housing body, a frame part and at least two separate covers. The housing body delimits an interior space which is open at one side by means of a housing opening. The frame part has a circumferential web surrounding the housing opening. Extending within the circumferential web is a central web of the frame part that divides the housing opening into at least two opening portions. A cover abutment surface is formed, against which the covers bear in their closed position. An encirclingly closed flameproof gap is formed between each cover and the cover abutment surface when the cover is situated in the closed position and is detachably fastened by means of one or more connecting units to the frame part.

  • Patent number: 12157028
Abstract: A protective housing in explosion-protection-type pressure-proof encapsulation. At least one device for reducing explosive pressure is associated with the housing. The housing includes a first housing part having a first sealing surface and a second housing part having a second sealing surface, wherein, when the housing is in the closed pressure-proof state, a resilient seal is held between the first sealing surface and the second sealing surface so as to be elastically deformed, and, as a result, closes the space between the first sealing surface and the second sealing surface in a flame-proof manner in the event of an explosion inside the housing. The flame-proof arrangement can replace a planar gap between, for example, a surface of a cover and a surface of a housing part, which gap requires conformity to relatively narrow manufacturing tolerances.

  • Patent number: 12120833
Abstract: A housing that can be provided on the inside with a lining, made of an open-pore material and preferably covering at least two sides of the housing, for the reduction of internal explosion pressure. In addition, or alternatively, a molded body made of the open-pore material, in particular a bonded fiber material, can be arranged in the housing. Methods are used to provide an assembly of an open-pore material and a flameproof body in order to create an assembly that has a higher temperature class and/or a higher flameproofing class than those for which the flameproof body is designed.

  • Patent number: 12060961
Abstract: The invention relates to an explosion-proof arrangement (10) with an explosion-proof housing (11) which has a wall opening (23) in a housing wall (12). The wall thickness (d) of the housing wall (12) is so small that it is not possible to form a thread there in order to screw in a connecting body (15) for a line to pass through or for receiving an assembly so as to ensure protection against flame transmission. According to the invention, a connecting body (25), which has a flange (38) with a flange face (39), is inserted into the wall opening (23). The flange face (39) delimits a flameproof gap (58) by way of the housing wall (12). The dimensions of a gap or intermediate space between the connecting body (25) and a boundary face (24) of the housing wall (12), which boundary face delimits the wall opening (23), are not important. The protection against flame transmission can be provided solely by the flameproof gap (58) between the flange face (39) and the housing wall (12).

  • Patent number: 12053657
Abstract: An explosion-proof housing having a cover arrangement which includes two or more covers. The covers are adjacent to a flameproof gap in the housing body (11). A flameproof gap is likewise arranged between the individual covers. Special seals, more particularly in the form of a butt joint closure, are arranged on the remaining butt joints or other gaps and through-holes.

  • Patent number: 12029001
Abstract: An explosion-proof apparatus with an explosion-proof housing and a cooling device. The explosion-proof housing has a plurality of outer walls enclosing a housing interior. A pressure-relief arrangement of the cooling device has at least one pressure relief opening with at least one gas-permeable, flameproof pressure-relief body. The pressure-relief opening passes through at least one of the outer walls. The cooling device also has at least one heat sink which forms at least one heat sink wall part of one the outer walls and which, as a heat sink wall part of this outer wall, directly borders, on its outer face, the surrounding area and directly borders, on its inner face, the housing interior.

  • Patent number: 11969613
Abstract: An explosion-proof housing having external walls, which enclose a housing interior so as to be proof against ignition penetration relative to an atmosphere at risk of explosion. At least one insert is arranged in at least one outer wall. The insert facilitates a gas flow between the housing interior and an environment around the housing. The at least one insert is configured in such a way that a gas flow having a sufficient mass flow or volumetric flow rate is permitted, but a flow connection which is proof against ignition penetration is produced. Attached to the outer wall having the at least one insert is a guiding means which together with the relevant outer wall delimits a flow channel. The flow channel defines a main flow direction of a main gas flow through the flow channel substantially parallel to the directly adjoining outer wall. In this way, the gas exchange between the environment and the housing interior can be improved and facilities arranged in the housing interior can be cooled.

  • Patent number: 11690181
Abstract: A housing according of the flameproof encapsulation protection type having a housing body which has an opening closed by a cover. The opening is surrounded by a flange which is directed outward away from the housing body. The edge of the cover lies flat on the flange. The edge and the flange are both preferably continuous. In any case, the edge and the flange do not have any passage openings for clamping means. In order to clamp the edge against the flange, clamps are provided which hold the edge and the flange pressed against each other in the manner of screw clamps. The clamps are provided with releasable clamping means and are preferably captively retained on the housing body or the cover, the clamps being movable between a closed position, in which the cover is fixedly clamped, and an open position, in which the clamps do not extend over the cover and allow the cover to be opened unhindered.

  • Patent number: 9908679
Abstract: A housing part for an explosion-protected housing (10) with flameproof encapsulation. The housing part comprises a porous body (20) in a passage (15) of the housing part. The passage (15) is closed in a flameproof manner by means of the porous body (20). The porous body (20) comprises an inner side (21) assigned to the interior of the housing (10) and an outer side (22) assigned to the surrounding area (12) comprising the explosive atmosphere. A gas volume flow can pass through the porous body (20), entering the porous body (20) on the inner side (21) and escape on the outer side (22) or vice versa. To prevent the penetration of water or of other aqueous liquids into the interior of the housing (10), the porous body (20) comprises a hydrophobic surface (B) in at least one area (31).

  • Patent number: 9403326
Abstract: An explosion-proof housing (10) with a pressure release device (11) and method of manufacture. The pressure release device (11) including a porous body (12) having a gas-permeable porous central area (13) and a surrounding edge zone (22). A peripheral surface (21) of the porous body (12) is arranged in the edge zone (22). The porosity and/or the pore size of the porous body is specified or changed at the peripheral surface (21), or at the edge zone (22), such that the penetration of liquid casting material (G) into the central area (13) of the porous body (12) is prevented across the peripheral surface (21) or the edge zone (22). The edge zone (22) thus forms a barrier (B) for the casting material (G) which enables the porous body (12) to be inserted in a casting mold (31) and insert molded with casting material (G) in production of an accommodating part (25) of the housing.
