  • Publication number: 20240102436
Abstract: An injector has an injector needle (2) by means of which an outlet opening (4) of an injector housing (1) can be closed. The injector needle (2) can be adjusted in pressure-controlled fashion from a closed position into an open position. The injector needle (2) is axially fixedly connected to a piston (26) which is under closing pressure in one direction so that the injector needle (2) closes the outlet opening (4). In the other direction, the piston (26) and thus the injector needle (2) can be displaced by a valve-controlled control pressure, whereby the injector needle (2) passes into its open position and releases the outlet opening (4).

  • Patent number: 6928986
Abstract: A fuel injector having a piezoelectric actuator. A needle valve is mounted in the injector body and has an opening hydraulic surface substantially surrounded by a high-pressure fuel line in fluid communication with a high-pressure fuel chamber. A control piston partly defines a piston control chamber, which is in fluid communication with the opening hydraulic surface and the high-pressure fuel chamber. The piezoelectric actuator is activated between an off position and an on position for positioning a control valve into an open position or a closed position. A high-pressure fuel condition is maintained in the piston control chamber by fuel supplied from the high-pressure fuel chamber and independent of any actuation of the control valve. In a low pressure fuel condition, a force on the opening hydraulic surface of the needle valve member is greater than the downward force on the closing hydraulic surface thereby opening the needle valve member for producing an injection event.

  • Patent number: 6681732
Abstract: A control device for switching an intake or exhaust valve of an internal combustion engine has a control valve with a control valve piston for controlling flow of a hydraulic medium from a pressure line to the intake or exhaust valve. At least one actuating element is correlated with the intake or exhaust valve and has a first end acted on by the hydraulic medium. At least one damping device interacts with the at least one actuating element and is arranged at a second end of the actuating element opposite the first end. • Publication number: 20040011900
Abstract: An oil activated fuel injector includes a control valve body with end cap solenoids and a slidably mounted spool. A minimized contact surface area exists between the spool and one of the first and second solenoid coils providing a minimized ratio of surface area versus boundary line of a contact surface to prevent a change in latching effects. The minimized surface may be on the end of the spool or one or both of the end caps. The minimized surface area may be a raised portion of different dimensions.
