The first seatback lower portion and the second seatback lower portion may be arranged on opposite sides of the intermediate lower portion. The seat assembly may also include a carrier frame to which the first seatback upper portion, the second seatback upper portion, and the intermediate upper portion may be connected. At least one of the first seatback upper portion, the second seatback lower portion, and the intermediate upper portion may be adjustably connected to the carrier frame.

It comprises a cover (10) that encloses a layer of padding (20) on one side and is placed under tension so that it is pulled around the periphery of a cushion carrier (30). By way of its edge the cover (10) is directly attached to the periphery (32) of the cushion carrier (30), which has been placed on the other side of the layer of padding (20).

Abstract: A vehicle seat having a normal driving position and a sport driving position is disclosed. A central back section and central seat section are provided in the backrest and seat cushion portions of the vehicle seat, respectively. The central sections are movable to change the geometry of the vehicle seat relative to side back supports and side seat supports. Different actuators may be provided in different locations behind the central back and seat sections. Examples of actuators that may be used include eccentric rollers, pneumatic cylinders, pneumatic elements or bladders, and movable wedges. The position of the central sections may be manually controlled by switches, or automatically controlled by sensors, or by a position memory control.

One part of the seat-surface structure can be adjusted and secured in the longitudinal direction relative to those remaining parts of the seat-surface structure which define the seat surface. A substructure that carries the seat-surface structure is operative so that the inclination of the seat-surface structure can be adjusted relative to the substructure. A belt-retaining device is carried by the backrest and operative in one operating mode to clamp the seatbelt, in response to the seatbelt traveling in a first pulling direction, and to release the seatbelt, in response to the seatbelt traveling in a second pulling direction. In another operating mode, the belt-retaining device loosely surrounds the seatbelt.
