    Abstract: A device for recording indicia by directing a high intensity light source against a thin walled material having a high absorption power with respect to light and having a high conductivity in one direction, the thin walled material being positioned adjacent a recording carrier such as a thermally responsive paper, whereby the thin walled material absorbs energy transmitted by the light source and transmits the same as heat to the recording carrier.
