  • Patent number: 6915886
Abstract: A bridging clutch is installed in a fluid medium-filled housing of a hydrodynamic coupling device located between a drive shaft and a transmission input shaft, the coupling device also containing a pump wheel and a turbine wheel. The bridging clutch is provided with a piston, which, when moved into a first axial position, brings at least one friction element into working connection with at least one friction surface, and when moved into a second axial position, at least partially releases this working connection, and with a torsional vibration damper, which is designed with at least one drive element and with at least one takeoff element, at least one of which has openings for circumferential springs and actuating areas for these springs. At least one of the takeoff elements acts a carrier element for the turbine wheel, which is held otherwise without radial support in the housing.

  • Patent number: 6837348
Abstract: A hydrodynamic clutch device for a hydrodynamic torque converter includes a turbine wheel for rotation about an axis of rotation. The turbine wheel is connected by a lockup clutch arrangement for transmitting torque to a housing arrangement. The turbine wheel includes a turbine wheel shell for housing turbine wheel blades. The turbine wheel shell is operably connected by a torsional vibration damper arrangement for transmitting torque. The torsional vibration damper arrangement includes a first transmission element coupled with the lockup clutch arrangement and the turbine wheel shell and includes a second transmission element coupled with the first transmission element for transmitting torque by means of a damper element arrangement; and wherein the first transmission element is supported at the housing arrangement in a first direction by a bearing arrangement.

  • Patent number: 6471021
Abstract: A hydrodynamic coupling device having a housing which is, or can be, filled with hydraulic fluid, a turbine wheel which is rotatably arranged in the housing and is, or can be, connected to an output shaft for joint rotation, and a sliding bearing arrangement which the turbine wheel is rotatably mounted relative to the housing, and which has a hydraulic fluid channel arrangement for the passage of hydraulic fluid from radially outside to radially inside relative to the region of the output shaft, or vice versa.

  • Patent number: 6277027
Abstract: A hydrodynamic torque converter is embodied with a converter housing that, on its side facing a drive, has a substantially radially-running primary flange. Attached to the primary flange are a central pin for mounting and a holder for holding the converter housing on the drive, as well as a housing hub for mounting a transmission shaft of an output. At least one of the connecting elements on the primary flange (i.e., the holder, the housing hub and the central pin) is connected to the primary flange by an outward pressing. The holder, housing hub and central pin respectively establish a connection between the primary flange and the drive or output. This connection to the primary flange is created by material displacement into an opening in the connecting element in question, which opening is located on the side facing away from the connection.

  • Patent number: 6260354
Abstract: A hydrodynamic torque converter a hydrodynamic circuit has at least a pump impeller and a turbine wheel. The turbine wheel has a turbine shell with a blading and a turbine hub which is in rotary connection with an output shaft. The turbine shell extends radially inward between an extension region of axial abutments and is provided with stiffeners.

  • Patent number: 6216836
Abstract: A housing component for a hydrodynamic clutch device, especially a hydrodynamic torque converter, possesses a friction surface region for a converter lock-up clutch of the clutch device on a first side which is positionable for facing the interior of the clutch device. This housing component is formed by, at least in the region of the friction surface region, the reshaping of a metal component. On a second side of the housing component lying opposite to the first side a surface structuring is formed in a region corresponding to the friction surface region by reshaping of the metal component to form the friction surface region.
