  • Publication number: 20070270323
Abstract: A process for cleaning metal surfaces is provided using a neutral industrial cleaner, which comprises a combination of non-ionic surfactants and/or glycol ethers, and polyethylene imine. The cleaner has a demulsifying effect on fats and/or oils on metal surfaces and in the cleaning solution allowing separation and reuse of the cleaner. The cleaner is low-foaming and can advantageously be used in spray application.

  • Patent number: 6420323
Abstract: A low-foam emulsifier system is presented containing (a) an ethoxylate/propoxylate of one or more C8-C18 fatty alcohols, where the ethoxylate/propoxylate contains 2 to 6 ethylene oxide units and 4 to 8 propylene oxide units, with (b) a fatty alcohol propoxylate or distillation residue of fatty alcohol or fatty alcohol propoxylate, where the fatty alcohol contains 12 to 24 carbon atoms and up to three propylene oxide units. The weight ratio of (a) to (b) is from 1:0.3 to 0.3:1. The emulsifier system produces a low amount of foam, and is useful in industrial metal processing applications such as cleaning, corrosion protection or cooling lubricant emulsions.

  • Patent number: 6187737
Abstract: A cleaning agent concentrate is presented having (a) at least one glycol ether corresponding to the formula: R—O—(CH2—CH(CH3)O)n—H where R is an alkyl group having 1 to 4 carbon atoms or a phenyl group, and n is a number of from 1 to 5; and (b) at least one cationic surfactant, where the weight ratio of (a) to (b) is from 8:1 and 100:1, and where the cleaning agent concentrate comprises less than 0.1 percent by weight of fatty alcohol alkoxylates, amphoteric surfactants, or mixtures thereof. When diluted to 0.5 to 5% by weight with water, a cleaning agent is formed that is low-foaming. The cleaning agent is especially useful for cleaning and passivating metal surfaces using a spray application.

  • Patent number: 4609488
Abstract: A process for regenerating and recycling aqueous alkaline or neutral degreasing and cleaning solutions contaminated with emulsified oils by adding thereto cationic surfactants or cationically modified polymers or a combination of cationic surfactants and cationically modified polymers to break the emulsions. The contaminants which precipitate are mechanically separated off and the cleaning solution is thereby regenerated without loss of cleaning efficacy.
