  • Publication number: 20020029070
Abstract: An at least partially implantable system for rehabilitation of a hearing disorder with at least one sensor for picking up an acoustic signal and converting the acoustic signal into corresponding electrical signals, an electronic signal processing unit for audio signal processing and amplification, an electrical power supply unit which supplies energy to individual components of the system, and an output-side electromechanical transducer arrangement which consists of at least two independent and spatially separate transducers for stimulation of the inner ear. In conformity with the invention, the output-side electromechanical transducers are designed for stimulation of the fluid-filled inner ear spaces of the damaged inner ear and the signal processing unit comprises driving signal processing electronics which electrically controls each of the transducers such that a traveling wave configuration is formed on the basilar membrane of the damaged inner ear.

  • Patent number: 6123677
Abstract: The invention relates to a process for obtaining data on hearing quality by measuring distortion products of otoacoustical emissions (DPOAE) in which two primary tones with the frequencies f.sub.1, and f.sub.2 >f.sub.1 and sound pressure levels L.sub.1 and L.sub.2 and at least one sound event having proportions of the frequency f.sub.3 and the sound pressure level L.sub.3 are applied as stimuli to the hearing organ and at least one distortion product of the defined frequency is determined, where the value of f.sub.3 is close to the frequency of the distortion product.

  • Patent number: 6104024
Abstract: A housing is provided that has a receiving body for at least one optical sensing device and at least one hollow and air-tight window body for allowing passage of signals to and from the sensing device. The hollow and air-tight window body eliminates condensation on the window through which the signals of the sensing device have to pass and thus improves operation of the sensing device.

  • Patent number: 6099153
Abstract: An exterior rearview mirror for motor vehicles has a housing and a mirror pane pivotably supported in the housing. A light source is mounted in the housing. The housing has an outlet opening through which light emitted by the light source exits the housing. A light guide at least partially fills the outlet opening and is connected within the interior of the housing to the light source.
