  • Patent number: 8567151
Abstract: A device for connecting an exterior deck structure to a contiguous building via a bore-hole through the deck ledger and building header retains the deck in place in the event of earthquake or similar stresses. A pair of tension members comprising interlocked tensile links, are encapsulated in a generally cylindrical plastic plug to maintain ½ to 2 inches separation, to provide a thermal barrier. A pivoting toggle pin on the end of one link pivots between a first position aligned with the axis of the link and a second position transverse to the axis. The plastic plug may have an extending lip supporting the pivot pin in axially alignment. The second link may be rigid or flexible, has a sealing member adapted to slide thereon to seal the bore-hole. The second link is adapted to be fastened securely to a joist or other appropriate member of the deck.

  • Patent number: 8555597
Abstract: A connector device for connecting an exterior deck structure to a contiguous building the connector having a pair of interlocked non-contacting cable loops, with a plastic plug encapsulating the interlocked ends of the cables and separating the cables to act as a thermal barrier. An expanded head at one end of the plug, with associated foam washer seals against a deck header. The exterior cable end of the connector is attached to a deck joist and the interior end of the connector is attached to a building joist, wherein the respective joists may be laterally offset. • Publication number: 20080211325
Abstract: The invention relates to an electromotive drive comprising an electric motor with a commutator that is located in a motor housing, in addition to gearing that is flange-mounted on the electric motor. In the drive, the armature shaft passes through an opening into the interior chamber of a gearing housing. A screening element is fixed onto the shaft to rotate with the latter. The screening element almost completely seals the opening against abraded carbon particles or dust from the brushes. The screening element also carries a control magnet that co-operates with a sensor of the motor control module.

  • Patent number: 7034421
Abstract: The invention is a driving device mainly for the windshield wiper assembly of a motor vehicle, which has a housing, an electric motor located in a housing with a pivoted armature, a gear unit located in the housing with a worm shaft located on a section of the armature and an axial force generating device to compensate for the axial free play of the armature. In order to create a driving device of the simplest possible construction in which the axial force generating device does not have to absorb all of the axial forces from the armature and which nevertheless can properly compensate for the axial free play of the armature, one end of the armature is supported by a support bearing at the housing and that the axial force generating device has a tapered sliding member which rides movably in the housing in a radial direction relative to the armature and is supported at the armature so that an axial force running in the direction of the support bearing can be applied to the armature by moving the tapered slide.

  • Publication number: 20050174010
Abstract: A motor housing assembly includes a motor housing with two magnets disposed in the housing in a spaced relationship and a brush holder that couples with the motor housing. The magnets are disposed inside the motor housing to form two spaces in between the magnets. The brush holder has two tabs that extend inside the motor housing in between the two spaces. The tabs allow the brushes in the brush holder to be aligned solely based on the magnet position to ensure that there is proper angular alignment between the brushes and the magnets.

  • Patent number: 6545380
Abstract: The invention relates to a windscreen wiper drive mechanism in which an output lever can be fixed on a gear wheel at a predetermined angle, the gear wheel adopting a position at a defined angle. Before assembly, the output shaft should be connected to the output lever in such a way that it cannot be detached. The invention also relates to a method for assembling a drive system of this type. The inventive method consists essentially of the following steps: moving the gear wheel into the defined end position (park position) independently of engagement with the output shaft and then connecting the output shaft to which the output lever was previously undetachably fixed to the gear wheel, with a press fit. Advantageous embodiments describe appropriate bearing possibilities for the gear wheel and suitable steps for facilitating the pressing-in process.

  • Patent number: 6431026
Abstract: A casing for a drive unit, particularly a drive unit for a wiper apparatus, consists of plastic reinforced with glass fiber. The drive unit casing is open at one side and is sealed there by means of a metallic cover, where the cover serves at the same time as an axial support for the support axes of the drive unit. The use of plastic reinforced with glass fiber gives the casing a sufficient strength, and additionally has the advantage that the drive unit casing is significantly lighter than corresponding casings which are constructed in metal.
