  • Patent number: 5238384
Abstract: The components forming the layers of a composite pipe are successively introduced into a rotary drum (1). Initially, a plastic reinforcing layer (8), including a fibre reinforcement, is introduced into the drum, the ends of the drum (1) being bounded by rings. A concrete core layer (16) is then introduced and the length of the core layer (16) is shortened relative to that of the drum (1) by shaping rings fixed to the drum ends. The shaping rings are then replaced by other shaping rings (20, 21) so that, on either side of the core layer (16), two annular spaces (22, 23) are formed which are filled by a socket material (24, 25) of the same composite as the reinforcing layer (8). Thus, at one pipe end a socket end (28) is formed and at the other pipe end a spigot end (30) is formed, each such end being located within the composite pipe wall thickness. After introducing a second reinforcing layer (26), the production of the composite pipe is completed.

  • Patent number: 4648633
Abstract: The spigot end of one pipeline element is inserted in the socket end of the other pipeline element and is sealed by a gasket. To the end face of the socket end is connected a thrust preventing ring, which is secured by claws to part of a collar. A retaining ring engages on the inner surface of the thrust preventing ring and its inner face is provided with a tooth system, which is fixed to the surface of the spigot end. Between the end face of the socket end and the retaining ring is provided a thrust ring, which exerts a pressure on the retaining ring. By means of in each case one packing element on the side of the thrust preventing ring facing and remote from the socket end, said ring is located in a sealed and consequently corrosion-proof zone. Thus, the socket joint is secured without any modification to the pipeline elements.

  • Patent number: 4031948
Abstract: While a mold assembly providing an antechamber for the mold is fixed in the operating position, another such mold antechamber assembly is set up, adjusted and preheated in a standby position, and mechanical displacement arrangements make possible a rapid substitution of the mold assembly in the standby position for the mold assembly in the operating position, either in case trouble develops with the latter or when it is desired to shift from operations with a mold of one cross section to operations with a mold of another cross section. The cast rod is pulled horizontally out of the mold. Operating and standby positions are provided on a rotatable positioning table. A reservoir oven is arranged for discharging molten metal into the antechamber located in the operating position as needed to maintain the melt level in the antechamber of the operating mold assembly within prescribed limits.
