  • Patent number: 5308579
Abstract: Liquids for cleaning, disinfecting and lubricating dentistry handpieces are distributed to the handpieces by a device which includes reservoirs for storing liquids for the cleaning, disinfection and lubrication procedures which are to take place, and a series of solenoid valves for sequentially opening at different stations according to a prescribed cycle. To this end, each liquid to be utilized is conveyed through each handpiece in actual liquid form, and not in an atomized form, and then atomized in the handpiece by compressed air entering through a conduit which is separate from the conduit for passing the liquids.

  • Patent number: 5290170
Abstract: The ablator is made with synthetic resins reinforced so as to resist the mechanical stresses of flexion and abrasion. The resins are reinforced with metallic or non-metallic fibers totally incorporated in them, and are reinforced against wear due to abrasion by a modification in their surface molecular structure by means of a process of ionic implantation or similar procedures. Preferably, the synthetic resins used belong to the group of polyarylamides which exhibit better characteristics of mechanical resistance and of the duration of the sharpened edge of the ablator.

  • Patent number: 5057283
Abstract: Automatic apparatus for cleaning dental handpieces and turbines is in the form of a housing having a compartment with hinged door. Standard motor noses project down from the top of the compartment to receive handpieces or turbines to be cleaned. Cleaning fluids, namely water, a disinfectant and oil are supplied sequentially to the motor noses while internal shafts of the motor noses are rotated by a set of pinions to drive the handpieces or turbines while the fluids are passed through them. The hinged door has an inflatable tube seal.

  • Patent number: 4353891
Abstract: This invention relates to a class of .alpha.1,3 glucan 3-glucanohydrolase named mutanase. The .alpha.1,3 glucosidic bonded polysaccharides hydrolyzed by these enzymes, herein termed mutan, forms part of the matrix material of dental plaque.Mutanase may be produced by culturing microorganisms such as, Trichoderma, Penicillium, or Streptococcus on a glucan characterized by at least 50% alpha -1, 3 glucosidic bonds.Mutanase containing compositions are adapted for disintegrating in vivo essential structural components of dental plaque.
