  • Patent number: 7129856
Abstract: An illuminated sign is for traffic control, in particular for road traffic, and includes light sources for generation of the sign and a monitoring device for functional monitoring of the light source. The light sources are embodied as light diodes and the monitoring device is embodied as a device for the limited current loading of the light diodes. The functional monitoring of said sign can be achieved with reasonable technical requirements in both the deactivated and activated state thereof.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: August 5, 2002
Date of Patent: October 31, 2006
    Assignee: Siemens Aktiengesellschaft
Inventors: Bernhard Hering, Rudolf Schierjott, Gerhard Treffer
  • Publication number: 20060182722
Abstract: Compositions and methods for isolating and purifying islet cells are described. Islets obtained using such compositions and methods can be transplanted into diabetic patients.

  • Publication number: 20030099622
Abstract: A mixed chimeric immune system is created for a variety of treatments and techniques. Mixed chimerism is established in a recipient without significant risk of profound neutropenia or graft-versus-host-disease (GVHD) by administering a cell transplant from a donor to a recipient along with a conditioning treatment and an immune blockade treatment.

  • Patent number: 5440109
Abstract: Vehicles having an on-board device further have a communication device, a vehicle transceiver and an electronic purse in the form of a processor card. Pay stations are arranged at locations along a roadway. The pay stations implement a data exchange with a wireless communication device and debiting a use toll. A vehicle localization device is provided in addition to a communication device at the pay station. The vehicle localization device identifies the position of the vehicle just arriving based on a brief-duration optical signal output by the vehicle transceiver wherein the temporary identifier known from the communication protocol is allocated to the optical signal. The optical signal can be an infrared photoflash that is output on demand by the pay station. The vehicle localization device is an infrared-sensitive video camera that identifies the position based on the optical imaging of this vehicle with computer-controlled evaluation.

  • Patent number: 4539539
Abstract: An electromagnetic relay has a tongue armature disposed inside a hollow coil body and having a free end movable between two cooperating pole plates, and a fixed end having an additional spring section disposed at an angle with respect to the movable portion of the armature, the spring section being secured to one of the coil flanges, thereby extending the effective free spring length of the armature so as to improve the sensitivity of the relay. The position of the armature with respect to the pole plates is adjustable after encapsulation of the relay by irradiating the spring section of the armature with thermal pulses, such as laser pulses at specified locations.

  • Patent number: 4520254
Abstract: A method and apparatus for adjusting contact springs of a relay with a laser beam. To adjust contact springs a laser beam is trained on specific points of a matrix field on the contact spring that is to be adjusted. For each of the points, the adjustment path that can be produced is stored in a memory. Through determination of the position of the armature or the contact spring by means of an electro-optical device and by comparison of the measurement results with the stored correction values, those points are selected that are to be irradiated with the laser beam.

  • Patent number: 4510473
Abstract: An electromagnetic relay has a tongue armature disposed inside a hollow coil body substantially along the coil axis, the tongue armature having a free end movable between two cooperating pole plates and a fixed end secured to a carrier disposed in a recess in a flange of the coil body substantially perpendicular to the coil axis. The carrier includes a pair of adjustment plates which are connected by means of torsion stays to fastening tabs, the carrier being connected to the coil body at the fastening tabs. Adjustment of the tongue armature is undertaken after assembly of the relay by the application of an external magnetic field to the adjustment plates, the displacement of which permanently deforms the torsion stays so as to suitably position the tongue armature.
