  • Publication number: 20070052700
Abstract: A technique is provided for performing a computer aided detection (CAD) analysis of a three-dimensional volume using a computer assisted detection and/or diagnosis (CAD) algorithms. The technique includes selecting one or more three-dimensional points of interest in a three-dimensional volume, forward projecting the one or more three-dimensional points of interest to determine a corresponding set of projection points within one or more two-dimensional projection images, and computing output values at the one or more three-dimensional points of interest based on one or more feature values or a CAD output at the corresponding set of projection points.

  • Publication number: 20070014448
Abstract: A technique is provided for comparative image analysis and/or change detection using computer assisted detection and/or diagnosis (CAD) algorithms. The technique includes registering a first three-dimensional image of a first volume and a second three-dimensional image of a second volume. The first and the second volume are generally anatomically symmetric to one another. The technique also includes automatically comparing the first three-dimensional image and the second three-dimensional image.

  • Publication number: 20060067473
Abstract: Briefly in accordance with one embodiment, the present technique provides a multi-energy tomosynthesis imaging system. The system includes an X-ray source configured to emit X-rays from multiple locations within a limited angular range relative to an imaging volume. The imaging system also includes a digital detector with an array of detector elements to generate images in response to the emitted X-rays. The imaging system further includes a detector acquisition circuitry to acquire the images from the digital detector. The imaging system may also include a processing circuitry configured to decompose plurality of images based on energy characteristics and to reconstruct the plurality of images to generate a three-dimensional multi-energy tomosynthesis image.

  • Publication number: 20050135557
Abstract: A technique is provided for viewing a series of volumes that may be rendered using visualization techniques incorporating one or more weighting functions, such as depth-dependent weighting functions. In one aspect, the viewing technique may utilize such weighting functions to vary the volume of interest in a series of volume renderings. In addition, the viewing technique may provide for varying the viewing angle to minimize the effect of orientation specific artifacts in the displayed images.

  • Publication number: 20050135559
Abstract: A method and computer readable medium for generating a reconstructed volumetric image from projection image data acquired from an imaging system is provided. The method comprises accessing a plurality of projection image data and generating one or more weight maps from the projection image data. The reconstructed volumetric images are then generated from the weight maps and at least one of the plurality of projection image data and a plurality of processed projection image data derived from the plurality of projection image data.
