  • Patent number: 9474537
Abstract: A surgical tool lifts an overlying layer of skin away from underlying bone to prepare the bone to accommodate a convex element of an implantable device. The tool includes a lifting shell for insertion between the skin and the bone so as to lift the skin away from bone. A tool base supports the lifting shell and is supported by the bone. A drill template opening in the tool base provides access for preparing the bone to accommodate the convex element.

    Assignee: MED-EL Elektromedizinische Geraete GmbH
    Inventors: Martin Zimmerling, Bernhard Jamnig
  • Patent number: 8758394
Abstract: A magnet positioning tool is described for use with an implantable device. The device has a pair of opposing positioning surfaces, at least one of which has a magnet cradle for mechanically engaging an implant magnet associated with a magnet position in the implantable device. The tool also includes a position engagement surface for engaging the implantable device when the magnet cradle is adjacent to the magnet position.

  • Patent number: 8634909
Abstract: A magnetic arrangement is described for an implantable system for a recipient patient. A planar coil housing contains a signal coil for transcutaneous communication of an implant communication signal. A first attachment magnet is located within the plane of the coil housing and rotatable therein, and has a magnetic dipole parallel to the plane of the coil housing for transcutaneous magnetic interaction with a corresponding second attachment magnet.

  • Publication number: 20130096646
Abstract: A medical device is presented that includes an external portion adapted for placement external to the skin of a user. The external portion includes a battery pack for interfacing with at least one battery cell. The battery pack includes a housing, the housing defining air inlet and/or outlet holes such that fluid flow is enabled through at least a part of the housing. A micro-ventilation mechanism moves air through at least a part of the housing.

  • Publication number: 20120238799
Abstract: A magnet arrangement is described for use in implantable devices. An implantable housing contains a portion of an implantable electronic system. An implant magnet arrangement within the housing has adjacent magnetic sections that lie substantially in a common plane and include an inner center disc having an inner magnetic orientation in an inner magnetic direction, and an outer radial ring having an outer magnetic orientation in an outer magnetic direction opposite to the inner magnetic direction.
